It’s rare for major multiformat multiplayer games to launch without crossplay these days, but Rematch has hit an unexpected snag at kick-off.
While the release is blowing up across all platforms, it sounds like Sifu developer Sloclap is quietly fighting fires, as it’s nixed crossplay due to “unforeseen technical complexities”.
Fortunately, it sounds like it has a fix in the offing.
“We understand many of you were looking forward to playing Rematch across platforms from day one,” the studio said in a statement.
“We did our utmost to include crossplay at launch, but Rematch is the studio’s first crossplay title, and we faced unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time.
“We should have communicated as soon as it became apparent that crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch, and we're sorry for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players.”
Sloclap says adding in crossplay is its “absolute highest priority” and it’s “committed to delivering this feature swiftly”.
Despite the game launching today, it sounds like the studio’s got its work cut out: it’s plotting tournament and leaderboard systems, training modes against bots, and the ability to spectate matches. Ironically, it also hopes to implement faster rematches.
The team will be buoyed by the early success of this title, then, but it’s going to need to iterate fast if it hopes to hold on to its players. Assuming it can, though, this could be the next Rocket League-like sensation – and we’re curious whether it will even threaten to steal some players away from EA Sports FC 25.

Heard great things about this, really hope it finds an audience. FC25 was so dreadful that the community are crying out for just any fun so if a few streamers jump on this then it could be a decent little game to play.
Love the idea as i used to love Libero Grande back in the ps1 days but without any single player content this title would be better served as f2p.
I think it’s really poor that on the ps store it defaults to the elite version for £40. That’s Diego Simeone levels of shady tactics. That said, I stumped up £20 for the base version and am having a blast. There are a few bugs and niggles for sure, but when it’s good it’s really good. Now just need to get my teammates to pass the damn ball for once
Soccer? What are you, dirty Yanks or something?!
@Acquiescence Lol don't go there, ive had this out with them before on here, its lookout for the largest readerbase first (ie usa) Besides that these sites are all in the hands of Hookshot now (IGN)
@Mergatro1d It doesn’t for me, not from searching or the top seller list
@SeaDaVie really? That’s interesting. It must think I’m rich (or stupid)
@SeaDaVie you know what, I think I am stupid. I was looking at it yesterday when only the elite and pro versions were available.
@Mergatro1d oh right, it had Advanced access
@Mergatro1d Nah this happened for me too. Clicked in the app, and there's the elite version.
It’s football not soccer. Don’t be like Frodo.
Why ya’ll mad?! 😜
A spot of bother over footy?
The reason why I don't see this game as a rocket league competitor is just because it's a scripted game, rather than having a ball on a field with free physics interact by a push from a player and you have a full control of what's going to happen on the pitch. The rematch is just a canned animations with lots of assistance. It's still fun on its own, but no other game like rocket league.
