The impeccable Dead Cells, alongside its superb Return to Castlevania expansion, is coming natively to PS5. Confirmation comes as publisher Merge Games and developer Motion Twin have announced all-new physical bundles, which will be available on both PS5 and PS4 from 11th August. These retail releases will include all previously released DLC packs, including the aforementioned Konami crossover.

“Available for pre-order from today, standard retail editions of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania will feature reversible retro cover art, harking back to the Nintendo Entertainment System and original PlayStation eras, while the deluxe Signature Edition adds a host of collectable extras including the epic CD soundtrack, an exclusive art book, pin badges, and more,” the press release reads.

The official blurb adds: “Featuring the original base game for Dead Cells along with downloadable contents Rise of the Giant, The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls, and The Queen and the Sea plus 34 more free updates, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania introduces a brand new storyline across two new biomes.”

The aforementioned Signature Edition includes the following bonuses on top:

  • Unique Signature Edition outer sleeves
  • Alternative disc soundtrack featuring 28 original Castlevania tunes reimagined in a Dead Cells style
  • Collection of four enamel pins
  • Exclusive art book
  • Five snapshot photos souvenirs of the Beheaded in Castlevania
  • Lenticular castle card
  • Four Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania postcards featuring printed signatures
  • Special edition collectors box

While there’s no date for the PS5 version beyond these physical editions, existing owners will be able to upgrade from the PS4 for free. The press release notes: “Putting to use all of the console’s features, players will feel every enemy they take down and power they use with trigger effects, custom vibrations, feedback using the DualSense’s speaker and lightbars, and more.”
