Japan PS5 PlayStation 5 Sony Hardware Software Sales

PS5 has absolutely exploded in Japan this year, crossing the three million units milestone, and overtaking the PS4 and PS3 launch aligned. An influx of stock availability has absolutely catapulted the console to extraordinary numbers domestically, but things are very slowly beginning to level off now. Case in point: this week the system sold 64,869 units – still impressive, but a little lighter than earlier in the year.

Of course, Sony will be looking to the launch of Resident Evil 4 to help boost things later this month. This week, software sales weren’t particularly impressive, but a trio of PlayStation titles did make the top ten, with Hogwarts Legacy and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty continuing to stick around. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse was one of two new launches, shifting 9,031 physical copies on the PS4. The latest data, as provided by Famitsu, is below.
