Retro Compilation Sonic Origins Could Be Getting a Plus Update

I skipped Origins mostly because I have like 10 other ways to play these great Sonic games and the fact that Sonic 3’s music had to be changed still kinda bothers me. If they add in some rare titles to this plus version, that might catch my interest.

I picked up Sonic Origins back in December when it was on sale. If they add Spinball (likely as they already added the soundtrack and art for it) as well as the Game Gear games (1, 2, Chaos, and Triple Trouble) I'd definitely buy the update. Heck, might even opt for the physical version if they release one.

that’s good news . i have the mega collection for my gamecube & the actual genesis games but got it on ps5 for conveniency and higher quality (and trophies) ; but i gotta be real

Master System, Game Gear, Sonic Advance series, Sonic Pocket Adventure... hopefully what ever they are adding can be purchased as a dlc option. They still need to add some improved visual filters to the games too, matching those availbe on Mania would be good.

I would love to see the Master System games added to this as they're all very different from their Megadrive counterparts and great games in their own rights

For what it's worth, the Sonic Gems Collection and Sonic Mega Collection have all the 8-bit games between them, as well as Sonic R and Sonic The Fighters, so it can be argued that they are only a working emulator away from having almost all the games working on PS4 and PS5. Knuckles Chaotix and Sonic Advance have never been ported off their native systems, so there's no precedent for those. There were rumours of SegaSonic The Hedgehog being put in the PS2 collections, but that didn't happen. It uses a trackball in it's original form, so it may be difficult to port it properly. Otherwise it's just rereleases of the PS3 games, including the Adventure games.

Anything else is either not worth porting, or requires specific hardware (like the Sega Pico).

I blasted the soundtrack the other day and my 1 year old was dancing to it. Good moment.

Bring Sonic & SEGA All Stars and Transformed to the modern hardware! They're still stuck on the PS3 and it's a crying shame!

Sonic R’s soundtrack is amazing.

As long as you ignore the lyrics to the songs. Because they make absolutely no sense.

But boy the instrumentals on that soundtrack is top tier stuff.

Given this is Sonic Origins and seems to lean heavily on the mega drive, i think spinball and knuckles chaotix have a chance, but likely it's playable characters and stage color variations, which is what we gor for Sonic Mania.
Would be great if they fixed the Sonic 3 music issue too. Likely still not a buy for me until they add that.

Plus original music for Snow Cap Zone would be nice.

Sega can add what they like but I am holding out for a physical edition…yea cos I am hero/idiot like that

I have the original Megadrive cartridge but I’d rather not set that up.
