Ubisoft has published an article on its official website that answers questions surrounding the rather troubled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and its development. While its responses are basic, the French publisher confirms the game "is not cancelled". Any pre-orders the remake held were cancelled back in June, but Ubisoft explains this is because the project no longer has a confirmed release date, so "existing pre-orders have been cancelled and refunded where applicable".
The firm says more details will follow in future updates. However, it hasn't attached a time frame to when that news will be shared. What you shouldn't expect, though, is remakes of other entries in the Prince of Persia franchise like Warrior Within and The Two Thrones. "Beyond Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time there are currently no plans to remake any other Prince of Persia title," the blog post states.
Still only officially announced for PS4, it's been more than two years since the remake was first announced. After a poor showing, it has been delayed multiple times over and now finds itself in the hands of Ubisoft Montreal. "This decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic," a statement said in May earlier this year.

Nobody cares lol
They definitely went back to formula on this one. I hope it comes out someday and is high quality. Sands of Time deserves respect so I appreciate them clearly seeing something was dramatically wrong with the game and delaying it indefinitely until its in an acceptable state.
Funnily enough, I was wondering if this game was cancelled yesterday. Glad it isn’t.

This is a game that demands respect. Was such an amazing experience during my teen years. If Ubisoft was serious for this project from the begging they wouldn't have given this project to a new studio. Still have high hopes for this game, would benefit much more if this game would be a PS5 exclusive. Here's hoping for some particle effects like Infamous Second Son, Ray tracing 🥰🥰 ... Goose bumps.

The original is quite a short game, seems odd that it's taking so long if it's a faithful copy. Maybe they are changing things significantly?
They don't cancel project's, they just ignore them for a decade or two and then laugh at everyone.
You can go ahead and cancel skull and bones though. You're trying to make too many games and no one even wants half of them streamline Ubisoft, merge some studios, and by 2045 we may even see them release Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Avatar
I'm glad it's not cancelled but it being in development hell isn't exactly assuring.

Ubisoft have really lost their way with all these BIG Open world games. Luckily AC is still selling good and bringing the company profit. Such a desapoinment from what Ubisoft once was ( Splinter Cell, Rayman , Prince of Persia, Driver, Beyond Good & Evil ) My last AC was Origins, and not in a hurry to play a new one. Even Far Cry I would rather play something like the first title then what are they releasing now.

Wish they'd just let it go, it looked absolutely horrid. Can't believe they're seriously gonna put more effort and money into it.

@FierceViper82G 100% and it seems that ubisoft are intent on remaking,remastering or whatever the weakest of the series..warrior within was a superb game and one i would buy straight away..

@twitchtvpat by not releasing it 😂 just use the assets in a Black Flag remake and as part of any naval warfare in AC. It's a full release game of side content so no one would notice if it never came out 😁
@LIMA I care if it's done well. Sands of Time is a wonderful game that, combat aside, still stands up in terms of gameplay, story and puzzles. It does need a uplift visually and some QoL features however. Sadly what they've shown so far has been pretty bad.

Personally I thought Warrior Within was a massive back step in many areas. Yes the Combat was better, but Emo prince and metal soundtrack took the game further away from the original setting, Persia, and the puzzles just weren't as good likely due to rushed annual release. Still a very good game.
Though the last game in the trilogy Two Thrones was certainly the worst for me, by then the strict annual release schedule was starting to show the edges and it just wasn't as polished. Good ending though tied back nicely to the first game.
Regardless I liked them all.
@jrt87 They should put that monstrosity down man everything I hear about that game its something is dont like.
All this means is the game is in developmental hell/limbo, might as well be canceled.
