Bandai Namco Tokyo Game Show 2022

Tokyo Game Show 2022 is just a couple of weeks away, and Bandai Namco has revealed its schedule for the event. The publisher is set to host a number of showings across three days (the 15th, 16th, and 18th September), with exhibits dedicated to the likes of various Gundam games, upcoming RPG One Piece Odyssey, Dragon Ball: The Breakers, and, interestingly, the Tales of series.

But there's one mystery showing that's sparking a lot of speculation in the gaming sphere. Bandai Namco's final time slot on the 18th September is simply titled "???" on its official website, and as you can imagine, it's got people dreaming up all kinds of potential announcements.

We've seen talk of Elden Ring DLC or even a new FromSoftware reveal, but we're not at all convinced on either front. It's important to remember that Tokyo Game Show is, well, marketed directory towards a Japanese audience. Given that something like Elden Ring has been such a global hit, we doubt that this would be the place for it to go big. What's more, Bandai Namco doesn't really have much of a say over what happens with FromSoftware's output — it's merely a publishing partner.

A more educated guess would probably involve a new anime-based project, although the fact that Gundam, Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Sword Art Online are all being represented through other exhibits leaves us questioning what could be left over. It'll be interesting to see what actually gets announced.
