It appears a PlayStation 5 version of Saints Row The Third Remastered is on the cards as Exophase has listed a Trophy list overnight for a native edition of the game on Sony's latest console. Featuring the exact same number of Trophies as well as replicated descriptions and requirements as the PS4 version, this current-gen version does indeed seem to be a thing. Trophy listings also usually indicate a game is close to release, so some sort of announcement from publisher Deep Silver may well be imminent.
When we wrote the Push Square review of the PS4 version of Saints Row The Third Remastered last year, we praised its commitment to dumb fun, memorable missions, and a ludicrous open world. Dated game design and awkward controls got in the way of that enjoyment, however. "Even all these years later, it's a refreshingly stupid sandbox title that offers up some memorable moments — it's just a shame that they're buried beneath tedious activities and gameplay that feels incredibly basic by today's standards." A PS5 version very likely won't impact the sort of game feel drawbacks that led to our criticisms, but the visuals would surely look even better.

Hopefully we're looking at free upgrade and auto pop. I have zero intentions on playing SR3 again.
PS5 won't need PS3 backwards compatibility at this rate, all it's games will be on it in some form anyway
Did Agents of Mayhem were this bad in terms of sales that they would rather go for it with Saints Row 3 AGAIN?
I mean Saints Row 3 is not Skyrim, you cannot hope to sell it so many times.
Maybe rather come up with something new?
@carlos82 Konami games.
Konami games haven't had any remasters since PS3 versions.
They Should Have Remastered Saints Row 2 Instead.
@Blacksmith1985 to be fair I think Konami have forgotten that they make games in general
The only Saints Row I’ve played is IV, re-elected via PS Now, and I loved it. Better than the GTAs, Infamous’, and crackdowns of the world. Well up for this.
@Blacksmith1985 We know Saints Row 5 is in development.
I quite liked this one. Laura Bailey is great as female Boss. Plus it's got Burt Reynolds in it.
So far I have loved every game starting with 2 in the series, 4 was really fun for me as it felt like I was playing infamous with a created character. I do however think we are do for a new one, I have no interest in replaying the old ones.
@Blacksmith1985
No Skyrim, my thoughts exactly. I just can't see that many people wanting to go back to this game to make it financially feasible. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure I won't be revisiting this, didn't really even care for it the first time around.
This would be nice actually. I had this game on XBox One, but sold the whole system 2 months ago and I didn't finish Saints Row 3. But I really enjoyed it.
But even if that's true. I don't think, the PS5 version would make a night and day difference.
I've played bits and pieces of this on the switch and as ludicrous as some of the "missions" are, it feels like they should just let this go. I'm not coming back to this for haptics and activity cards!
Could never get into the Saints Row games. Saying that I've never really been a fan of GTA games either (apart from the original PS1 version). I'm not sure it's the genre for me and I can't figure out why, because I love open world / sandbox games.
Anyway, i'm enjoying seeing older games getting PS5 love and hope to see it continue, though I'm not sure this is a game that needed / should have it.
I hope SR V goes back to what Saints Row 1 and 2 was. Not this stupid alien BS.
@carlos82 @ me when Sony bring over their first party PS3 exclusives and HD remasters.
It'd just be nice to have some more new games made for PS5. Not remasters.
@Richnj Demon's Souls day one and I think The Last of Us is next up 😉
If I could post a gif of a cow being milked I would, but hey - good for them, there isn't really a downside to those of us who don't care.
@carlos82 I'll give you demon souls, but TLOU is unnecessary.
But we're still missing games from Gow, Killzone, Resistance, Infamous, Sly, Ratchet, LBP, Ico, and Siren.
It's actually something like 30+ games, not including ones I've forgotten about, or ones that Sony would never revive like MAG.
Definitely time for Saints the 5th. Already put in a lot of time with 3rd.
The graphics update was significant for a 'remaster' even on base PS4. Digital Foundry did a video on the game and as remasters go, some real effort was put in here. I bought it in a sale recently and have only played a bit but I assume even the PS4 version runs better on PS5 as you can unlock the framerate from 30, I think.
@thefourfoldroot I agree, I think SR4 is a great game.
I've played the game 3 times to 100% on ps3, PS4 and pc, I doubt I will play this title again, and free upgrade would be nice with autopop trophies I agree but that is far as I would go tho.
@LiamCroft apparently SR5 carry’s on from 3 so that probably why they’re pushing 3 so much.
This game was such stupid fun but it wasn't stupid stupid like the 4th game.
Why would anyone want to play this garbage, then or now. What a waste.
The age of cashing in on remasters and remakes in the entertainment industry is getting old.
Much like our aging societal constructs, we have grown to be mindless drones, devolving into lesser and lesser. Further away from our potential, while destroying the planet and biodiversity in the process.
I digress...
@Blacksmith1985 I'd be down for a remake of Castlevania : Lords of Shadow à la Demon's Souls
I mean il probably play it again but would rather a bundle with 4 and gat outta hell. Although honestly id like to see 1 and 2 get some love
#3 got to the point where it was still ok but starting to get stale. #4 it just became ridiculously stupid with the story and whatnot.
Eh, the game was fantastic (collectathon nonsense aside), but no, even if I had a ps5 I wouldn't complete it a 5th time with slightly upgraded fps or whatever. One day I'll play IV on Steam when I mod it with better music.
Saints row 1 & 2 should've been remastered I would've bought remasters of those
Why can't Volition just remaster Saint's Row 2. That's what everybody wants and has wanted for years and years. Saint's Row 3 is good but I've already beat it on PS3, PS4 a bit and nobody wants to pay it on PS5 a third time with it still looking the same.
Man, Deep Silver treats SR3 like it's re-releasing Fantasia from the Disney vault or something, except instead of Fantasia, you get some Polish knock-off.
I'd rather they focus on giving Saints Row 1 & 2 remakes...but we both know that's never gonna happen.
