NEO: The World Ends With You was first announced at the end of last year, giving fans of the franchise something to look forward to after a very long wait. The original game, a Nintendo DS title released in 2008, became a beloved cult hit, and Square Enix is finally revisiting the series with this fresh take. The follow-up is coming to PlayStation 4, and it's just received a brand new trailer and screenshots.
Set in a fictional version of Shibuya, Tokyo, the game is about several teams of competitors in the Reapers' Game, a battle for survival. You play as Rindo, who leads his team, the Wicked Twisters, through Shibuya, fighting monsters known as the Noise and competing in battles with other teams. In combat, you equip each party member with a pin badge, which allows them to use one of their psych abilities. There will be hundreds of these pins to discover, so you'll have to experiment to find the best combinations.
Inspired by manga, the game has a stylised look and features lots of characters; it looks like it'll be a pretty dialogue-heavy experience outside of the action. Additionally, the original game's composer Takeharu Ishimoto is back for NEO, producing new music as well as remixes of fan favourite tracks.
Most importantly, we now have a release date: NEO: The World Ends With You arrives on PS4 on 27th July, and it's available for pre-order on PlayStation Store now. Doing so will net you a Legendary Threads set, which will lend you a helping hand in the early game with a few interesting stat buffs, and you'll also get a batch of PSN avatars. Neat.

Looks good! Might have to dig out my DS and play the original first.
I regret selling my DS copy as part of my funding drive for a PS5, so i will pick this one up
Is this a remaster/remake or a sequel to the DS title?
@Rob_230 This is actually a sequel and not a remake as this article sort of kinda implies.
@Dekutheevilclown yeah i appreciate that. I just meant i regretted selling the first game. I loved the gameplay and style though so am happy to have an opportunity to play the sequel (which i had assumed would be exclusive to switch)
I read online that this also set after the anime, so I'm not sure if you'd need to have watched that also to truly appreciate this.
Looks good, I'm in
Knowing Square Enix this could probably be the vanilla version with incoming DLC but I still getting it day one the wait for a sequel has been too long
Will play if psplus
I never played the first game so I'm definitely interested.
Two things I know: I’ll like a book if it has a map at the front, and I’ll like a game if it lets me run through a Japanese city (real or otherwise).
Hopefully there will be a physical version. I can see there seems to be one up for preorder on the Square store
The question is whether Yozora will be on this
If it's anything like the first then definitely getting it for the switch, way better with touch controls
Just a touch over £40 at Shopto.net
@dark_knightmare2 NEO is a direct sequel to the original DS game.
If you want to play the original game, Nintendo did recently port it to Switch.

@KidBoruto cool thanks for the reply and info. I’m going to buy the switch version before the sequel that way I’m not lost.
This does look fairly interesting. I wonder if it's one of these sequels where you should play the previous game first, of if it doesn't matter. The original DS game is way too rare and expensive these days, and I don't really like using touch controls on the Switch for the remake.
@Rob_230 Square-Enix store exclusive in the USA: https://store.na.square-enix-games.com/en_US/product/633810/neo-the-world-ends-with-you-ps4
Happy you found it for pre-order at Shopto.net for UK buyers though.
