It's another big week for Monster Hunters the world over as Iceborne's huge Title Update 5 launches on the 1st October (technically the 30th September in some regions). If you missed out on the news, this update adds the fearsome black dragon Fatalis alongside an arch-tempered version of Velkhana.
But that's not all. The Halloween themed Fun Fright Fest begins with this upcoming patch, bringing new event quests and costumes. For all the smaller details, check out our earlier article on the subject.
This is Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's last big update, but what a ride it's been. Will you be taking on Fatalis later this week? Sharpen your weapons in the comments section below.

What a job Capcom did with this. This for me was GaaS done correct.
Amazing game, amazing support. Capcom has done a great job with MHW. Wish they would let Nvidia put it on GeforceNOW.
Best game on the PS4 for me. Hopefully, Capcom will develop another MH game for the PS4/PS5 in the future.
No worries hunters after this we are getting Rise but for now let’s enjoy getting kill over and over by Fatalis to celebrate this Amazing game’s ending
@AdamNovice definitely does not fall into the GaaS category
best game this generation. Absolutely love this game.
@Cutmastavictory Of course it does, weekly and seasonal events, mix the of free and paid content. It's Gaas in every sense of the word.
@AdamNovice lol. That's a very short sighted view of Gaas. Based on that, way more games would fall under that category. Its a looter. Its not a game because of the service. Its a great game that includes plenty of content.
I decided to continue my journey after TLOUII got my attention and I've been hooked right back in. I feel like I haven't beat half the monsters in the base campaign yet I keep hearing monsters upon monsters being added. I'm on the Pink Rathian for goodness sake.
@cutmastavictory So are games like Destiny and The Division not Gaas as well since their looter based too?
I've been getting back to Generations Ultimate (it's quite cheap due to the TGS Capcom discount) and even though it has a ton of content, the sheer amount of QoL improvements in World just put it heaps and bounds above it.
The MonHun team did an amazing job in supporting this game, I cannot wait for Rise and an eventual MonHun6 (world 2).
Happy Hunting!
@AdamNovice looting has nothing to do with being GaaS. Just because games have things in common doesn't mean they fall under the same umbrellas. What capcom is doing with mhw is what v they've done with all entries.
@Cutmastavictory Dude its a live service game, it has all the stuff live service games has (but does them in a pro consumer way) and Capcom themselves have even in the past referred to it in such a way. Seasonal events, regular updates, small MTX stuff, paid Expansion, heavy focus on online play, roadmaps, crossovers and more. The game does it all its just as i said it does it in a friendly way and keeps the MTX to the most pointless stuff in the game.
@WallyWest its not a live service game 🤣🤣
@Cutmastavictory Say that to Capcom who think otherwise.
I played MHW, but never got around to Iceborn. Will go back to it on PS5. Since it's framerate is uncapped, it will probably manage to hit 60fps on PS5.
As others have stated, this has been a great example of Games as a service done right. I know a few people who will be saddened when it finally comes to an end. It also seems to be the start of a great run for Capcom. I hope they maintain their winning streak.
Been a while since I really played mhw, I might start a new character and buy the dlc in time for Christmas
