The fearsome black dragon that is Fatalis is returning to Monster Hunter this October as part of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's final update. The beast arrives alongside a bunch of cosmetic additions, including layered armour options for every set in the game. A load of smaller gameplay tweaks will be made as well.
We've included screenshots from the final developer livestream below.
And here's the final roadmap for upcoming content:
At this point it goes without saying that Capcom has done an amazing job of updating Monster Hunter World. The title released over two years ago, and the company has delivered significant updates on a regular basis ever since. It's fair to assume that with World's development cycle coming to an end, the team at Capcom will be fully committing to its next Monster Hunter project.
It's worth noting, though, that seasonal events will still happen beyond the final update -- so you don't have to worry about missing out on certain quests once Fatalis hits on the 1st October.

Best game this generation. Can't wait to die to Fatalis
They really out did themselves with this game.
Incredible game and prove that a live service game can be pretty awesome when done right. So happy Fatalis has made it into World.
A shame that this is the final free update but no game can last forever. Although, I do wonder if they have paid content in mind but who knows. Maybe they're preparing for a new Monster Hunter game for PS5 and XBSeries?
Best game this gen. Clocked up over 800hrs. Alatreon was such a challenge and when I beat him for the first time it was such an amazing feeling! I shouted at the TV and the wife came running inside from hanging washing up, wondering what was happening 😂
@Bliquid what weapon do you main?
@SoulsBourne128 I Don't Think Rockstar And Epic Got That Memo.
One of the best games of this generation sad to see the end of updates for this majestic game, and hopefully they go with a bang and not make this an elemental Dps fight like alatreon because that was the worst and most disappointing fight in the entire game (especially for a Hammer and GS user like me) but other than that the game is Amazing
It was a long, kind of rough, but fun ride. I can't wait for the next Monster Hunter title for next gen. For now I'm gonna be fighting Fatalis for the first time since this is my first MH game.
@SoulsBourne128 I was probably going to be with you on that one until I got some help from some people that helped me out with my build and how Alatreon works. Also if it helps when playing with others set it to 2 players only. It helped me a lot.
@Bliquid HBG isn't a good match up for him. Bow is decent but I found I struggled to break his horn to stop him changing elements. You any good with dual blades? They melt through him. It's easy to hit the element cap with them. Can be a bit tricky to break his horns though so if you can fit Partbreaker in that'll help. He has big openings when he uses his lightning attacks.
Sad, l was expecting Gore than fatalis next. Why just why. This also means no white fatalis or crimson l bet.
I'm very pleased with Monster Hunter World. It's my favorite game this generation and Fatalis is icing on the cake.
This was a great game, and I bought both World and Iceborne. Sadly, the social aspect they feature at the end of the dev diary never panned out in the West, thanks to SOS flares and being able to join quests anywhere in the game. Western gamers only care about efficiency and convenience, so they never go out of their way to group up in the same room before and after quests.
I really hope MH6 goes back to centralizing the multiplayer experience. Make the gathering hub an actual place to gather once again. Most gamers will choose convenience over community as it has shown.
One big combat mechanic that drained my investment in Iceborne was the Clutch Claw. At launch, lighter weapons required two mounts, per part, just to deal base damage to that specific part, and the wound would heal after a couple minutes, requiring constant maintenance. I was wondering why quests were taking longer until I discovered that little fine print. Frustration was so high that I just put it down for a break and never came back.
Should’ve been GOTY 2018.
@ShogunRok Now that the free support is ending, does this mean we'll be getting a final true Complete Edition eventually?
Or has there been no paid story/campaign DLC yet.
@Bliquid niether have. Don't worry.
@KidBoruto Iceborne has been the only paid expansion, and you can already buy that plus the base game in one bundle. Maybe there'll be a complete edition that has loads of the cosmetic DLC thrown in later down the line, but that's all I can think of.
@ShogunRok Gotcha, thanks for confirming!
@KidBoruto No paid story stuff only some costumes and emotes and some stuff for decoration of your home.
