The Last of Us 2 Sales Japan

The Last of Us: Part II has gone straight to number one in Japan. The PlayStation 4 exclusive sold a solid 179,000 copies -- around 60,000 more units than The Last of Us managed when it launched in 2013. It's a decent result for Sony, seeing as the Japanese software charts are often dominated by Nintendo Switch titles these days.

In any case, it's another win for Naughty Dog's latest. The game has broken sales records here in the UK, and there are reports that it's doing equally well in other regions. Despite the controversy surrounding the title online, it's clear that The Last of Us: Part II is going to be another commercial juggernaut for Sony. It'll be interesting to see how it measures up against other blockbusters at the end of the year.
