Update: Typical. Just seconds after publishing this article, an icon and banner for Persona 4 Golden's Steam page have been found. Safe to say this is no longer a rumour.
What's more, Gematsu reports that Persona 4 Golden is releasing on the 13th June for PC. Sadly, there's still no word on a PS4 port.
Original story: Persona-related rumours are currently doing the rounds online, but there's one in particular that has some real weight to it. Persona 4 Golden, the PS Vita exclusive version of Persona 4, is apparently coming to PC -- and it's going to be both announced and released very soon, either during the PC Gaming Show this weekend, or during a different event in the near future (perhaps the New Game+ Expo later in the month?).
The big giveaway here is that people have already found Persona 4 Golden's Denuvo support page. So yeah, this is probably happening.
Of course, the question that we have as a PlayStation website is whether it'll also be ported to PS4. There's no word on this yet, but here's hoping.
We'll update this article as we learn more.

The date on the SteamDB was the 13th, which is the PC Gaming show as you mentioned. Atlus also came out last night and have been promoting announcements planned for that show, so it seems safe to say it'll be "available right now!" style.
I can't wait, I'll be all over it on Steam. I bought a Vita just for this back in the day. An amazing game.
I'am All For More Persona But i Would Much Rather Have Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne Digital Devil Saga Or Devil Summoner On PS4 More.
Can't wait for the 13th, if I had to guess it will either also release on other consoles like Switch and PS4 either simultaneously or at a later date (also most likely alongside Persona 3 FES.) Since they're already putting in the effort to port it to PC I can't see them giving up the opportunity to make more money with console ports. Then again, ATLUS acts in mysterious ways.
@ItsEnder My thoughts exactly, especially the "Atlus acts in mysterious ways" part!
I've been meaning to try P3 and P4. I was actually surprised by how much I love P5 so I'm completely open to trying the other games in the series, even if it is on PC.
I swear, if they won't port it to ps4/switch i'm gonna f***ing kill myself
I'm honestly surprised. I'm positive this means there will be a PS4 and/or PS5 port too though. This was out of the blue though.
Absolutely fantastic, this is great news. Finally after all these years, Persona on PC. Chuffed to bits.
I've still got this on my Vita. So much better than P5, in my opinion.
I still have hope that a PS4 (or even PS5) port is plausible.
@ApostateMage I feel like Persona 5 is better in the Palace & Combat Design, but Persona 4 Golden has a much better story and writing.
@ApostateMage One of the few instances where it’s entirely plausible to say 3, 4 or 5 are your favourites, all three have different strengths and vastly different tones. I probably like 3 the most plot wise but 5 for gameplay and soundtrack. 4’s solid though, a great game.
@ApostateMage
I did prefer the characters and narrative for P4 Golden overall. P5 has made some obvious improvements for the fighting system, I think.
But story is king for this sort of game so I agree with you. Would definitely be tempted to replay it.
Persona 3 is king!!!!
... Persona 4 is pretty good (I'm not terribly fond of golden's plot additions though) but I'm especially fond of the character arcs and plot in the third entry.
Fantastic game, and though I'll still only play it on Vita (unless a PS4 version arrives so I can get the trophies all over again), I will buy it on my PC to support the idea of the series being available for many other lucky gamers!
This is cool, I already have it on my Vita and doubt I'll ever get it for PC but it's nice for those who never bought a Vita and missed out on this game.
@LieutenantFatman @nessisonett @ItsEnder Yeah, the style and combat system is better in P5 but the gang, story and antagonist from P4 are fantastic. I've wanted to play P3 on the Vita but I've heard it's not the best version, apart from the female protag option.
Ohhhhh, neat! I’m gonna have to remember this for when I can afford my Origin build I spec’d and priced out last night! Probably gonna be a bit though, my build with monitor included came out to be over $5000, yikes. 😅 But it’ll be worth it, and when the lady wants to watch or play something in the living room but I wanna keep playing my PlayStation games I can just use remote play. I’m rambling though, neato for this. Always wanted to play Persona 4, and now I can whenever I can afford my build, and play at higher resolution and frame rate I imagine.
No way if they are porting to PC that this wont also come to PS4. Absolutely incredible game. For those hating on this, as much as i love my Vita, this game deserves to be played. If it has to come to a wider audience (PC & PS4) then so be it. Buying a vita these days is pretty tough going. I say this as someone who still plays my vita daily.
@ApostateMage Persona 3 Portable is absolutely worth a play just for the sole reason that you won’t be subjected to Mitsuru’s bloody obsession with Marin Karin. Being able to control your party members is very welcome. I still prefer FES though for the cutscenes and actual graphics in the city.
For these kinda life-sim / long AF JRPGs, I think playing it on a portable console is the way to go (which is why I'm just stickin' with my Vita version).
I've heard so many people having problems @nessisonett with Mitsuru and Marin Karin but I've played Vanilla P3 and FES with her in the party and never had some disaster wipeout cus of it
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Hahaha the worst is when you go through over an hour of cutscenes on a full moon and then all Mitsuru needs to do is heal the MC and she whips out the Marin Karin. I needed a good few weeks before I went back to that save 😂😂
With all the praise Persona 4 Golden gets, I'll be in for a treat whenever I eventually get round to playing it.
Persona 4 golden is by far my favorite game ever.
If it gets ported/remastered/remade that would sadly mean the psvita would loose the title “persona 4 golden machine.”
I played the game enough times. Still it would be cool to see it on PS4. Persona 3 it’s a very different story...we need a definitive version of it!
That does sound rather painful I have to admit...
... It'd be even worse if it had happened to me in my first playthrough of Persona 3 (It being my first Atlus/smt game) seeing as I was a bit of a disaster with it @nessisonett due to me still using a Jack Frost with basic level bufu skills against the october full moon shadow.
I spent over an hour fighting that bloody wheel of fortune ever so slowly chipping away at it
It did also make the strega fights actually difficult though at least...
Is this finally the end of Atlus not giving a **** about PC
Why port it to PS4 if it's going to be replaced in half a year. They're probably waiting for the PS5.
I really hope p3, 4 and 5 gets released on PC It'll be friggen chrismas in June DDDD
@PcTV Its Atlus. They released P4 on PS2 just as PS3 was launching. I wouldnt be surprised, particularly as PS5 will be backwards compatible.
In honesty, i wouldnt be surprised to see it ported to switch either.
Think I'll wait for persona 6 I'm tired of all these remasters and remakes. Let's have new games please. 😉😉😜😜
i liked persona 4 more than 5 by a fair margin. why? better cast of characters, slightly better pacing and less drawn out like the latter portions of p5. sure, the dungeons are repetitive as hell, just like momentos in p5, but somehow the package as a whole worked better for me in p4. the biggest issue this franchise is facing is the complete lack of innovation since persona 3. litererally, whichever game you play first from the trilogy will likely become your favourite, similar to how fans react with the final fantasy franchise... but at least every final fantasy game tried to re-invent itself, whereas persona 3,4, and 5 feel very samey and cookie cutter. still, great games in their own right, but i have gotten to my fatigue point now and look forward to project re-fantasy from studio zero over another persona game.
@PcTV you know, after a new console comes out the previous one doesn't get abandoned immediately.
Plus Atlus is after MON€¥
Atlus it’s loosing my respect with their weird decisions lately
@Rob_230 true. there are very few noteworthy vita exclusive titles left at this point. i used my vita mostly for ps1 classics as they look beautiful on the oled screen. but other than that, i can play most of the vita library on ps4 or pc now with a proper controller (which i prefer).
@TheFaker Sony has been clear about stopping support for the PS4 games-wise.
@Rob_230 Friendly reminder the PS3 played PS2 games at launch, while as of today it seems to be up there if it'll be the case for PS5. Backwards compatibility seems to be a case by case scenario atm.
The Switch port makes most sense imho, but I think the same of P5, so what do I know.
@TrueAssassin86x I know right? Sony lost an 8 year old port of a 12 year old game that was released for a now discontinued console that they barely ever cared about. Such a loss.
@PcTV More then a 100 million consumers on that platform thats why. 😆
@Flaming_Kaiser Uh I think you were trying to answer someone else (?)
@Averagewriter you are right.
The only reason I owned a Vita. I am sort of low key hoping this means it will come to Switch, but if it does, I doubt it will be physical which sucks.
As a person who has played 600 hours and had 7 different play throughs in one of my favorite game of all time, if not favorite. I wholeheartedly recommend this masterpiece to whoever hasn’t had a chance to get a Vita and play it there.
I really hope atlus release it on ps4.
I mean that's kinda fair that PC gets Persona 4 Golden before PS4 and Switch. Persona 5 Scramble will be announced for an western release in a few weeks for PS4 and Switch which PC owners won't get.
I have a Vita but never bought it. Still won't if they don't include JP voice acting.
some of the peeps above acting like oh no they are releasing exclusives to pc why bother with playstation of sorts. really ? this game is out back in 2008 game is now releasing on pc after 12 years, did it change anything you can play it again on pc you dont have to worry about backwards stuff every now and then once its on pc. besides sony is not stupid to release these exclusives on day one they will wait for 2 years min.
With that Sony loses another exclusive deal. I doubt we'll see any exclusive Persona games in the future if this is a true rumor.
Gotta be coming to the ps4 too fingers crossed for a switch port aswell since I have zero interest in PC gaming :/
Man, I'm sooooo excited to play it on pc this time. It might feel better on pc and best part l haven't played in ages and now l can play it all over again!
Hey wait, guys maybe they will release it on ps5 instead
PC gaming must be in the healthiest state it’s been in for years, if not ever...
This would be great on switch tbh
@Trajan That's not what third party means. Atlus/Sega are already third party. You mean multiplatform.
I will have to consider whether buy PS5 or PC. And Sony did that itself.
be nice if it was revealed on Thursday, not played P4 but I love 5 and with my Vita bricking it would be great to have a console version
Does the PS 4 really need another Persona game ? They should release one on Nintendo Switch
Absolutely fantastic news!
Here's hoping they also make it available on PS4 and Switch; I'd rather have it portable on the Switch, otherwise the PC version will be good enough for me!
I almost bought a PS Vita exclusively for this game a few years back lol
@Cromwell Stfu, really, just stfu
I hope they release this on Switch. They've been going on about Persona for what feels like forever. Just give them the damn game.
Also put it on PS4 because I don't want to play it on Switch.
@TheFaker what's so bad about other consoles getting to play older exclusives? I get this is a PS based news site but I don't see the point of getting mad about other people getting to enjoy games we already have.
I hope we see it on the PS4 too. It’s my favourite game of all time.
"stop port begging" sorry just quoting playstation fanboys
@ItsEnder It should come to both, not only one or another
@TheFaker i mean both ps4 and switch
@TheFaker I have no idea what you are saying
If it comes to Ps4 I can finally play it, I only played a few hours of it on the vita when I had one, I played the original on Ps2 though, didn't really like the happy tone of the game, I prefer the intense gloom and atmosphere of personas pre 4 and the mainline SMT games but it was still a great game.
I wish shin megami tensei 4 would come to consoles but that will probably never happen. Still, I can dream.
@GKO900 Seriously though. Their decisions on how they market and release their games has never made any goddamn sense to me. Their releases are all over the place.
@Areus Agreed, I can only dream that other SMT games get the same attention as persona one day.
@Porco I'll say the only thing that 4 is lacking is a good dub, but that's about it
Its so stupid to just release it on PC and nothing else.
Just asking to lose money. Hopefully they remedy that.
I am super upset this was skipped over on PS4, Atlus will regret this.
Mark my words the fans will speak up and demand change!
