For our money's worth, Resident Evil 2's Mr X is one of the scariest and most intense villains in all of video games. Seriously, that tyrant had our blood pumping as soon as it arrived onto the scene inside the Raccoon Police Department. However, the Capcom team working on Resident Evil 3 claims it plans to better the emotionless monster with the classic Nemesis. We're already a little bit scared.
Speaking with GamesRadar, producer Peter Fabiano said: "During development, our director saw what the team did with Tyrant in last year's RE2 and was determined to surpass that with Nemesis." He then goes on to state that the team wants to make Nemesis its own brand of fear -- a relentless pursuer who even comes equipped with its own guns. "You'll see that when you play the game."
We're going to need a few new pairs of pants when April 2020 rolls around if Resident Evil 3's Nemesis really is going to be even more terrifying than what Mr X brought to the table -- such is the fear that he struck in us last year. Do you hope this comes to fruition? Will Nemesis be scarier than Mr X? Scare us further in the comments below.

Sounds good, I loved Mr X despite him scaring me sh*tless so if they ramp it up I might need to buy some fresh underwear.
Can't wait for this
Hmm the Alien in Isolation was better I thought. Mr X started strong but got pretty annoying. I do wish he wasn't in the A scenario.
Looking at that screenshot again, how the hell is Jill expecting to get out of that one? Distract him with cleavage, perhaps?
Games like this put me on edge far too much. I wish I wasnt such a girlie pants! I can hack the slow zombies but anything that relentlessly stalks me is too much for my old heart to take đ
Mr X was easy enough to avoid. His footsteps were the scariest thing about the big oaf, I thought.
I dunno. I donât know if anything can surpass playing âX Gon Give It To Yaâ while Mr. X chases you and tries to give it to ya.
@kyleforrester87 To me that is probably a "death scene".
@kyleforrester87 If I was a betting man, I'd say that's a death animation.
But I don't want mr.x to be surpassed
@Bagshot nah, plenty folks complained, specifically those who want to explore at their own pace.
Frankly, I didn't find him annoying, and if you clean the RPD of lickers before he arrives, he's a lot more tolerable.
@Shirayuki seems they were worried people wouldnât play the B scenario and didnât want them missing out on the âmoney shotâ that was Mr X.
For me, that was the most annoying part of 2, so this makes me want to pass on 3.
@Bagshot I'd have much preferred the standard enemy in the game to adding X. Same as I felt about 1 remake with the crimson head zombies.
In regards to the original PS1 games, Nemesis was a step-up from Mr. X, so I'm glad the team is trying to one-up everyone's hat wearing tyrant from last years remake.
Mr. X pursues the player pretty relentlessly in RE2R, but at least he's easy to escape and hide from. This comment makes me think Nemesis will be more like the alien from Alien: Isolation, where it's this constant source of menace.
To be perfectly honest, while RE2R was a great game, I prefer my RE without things constantly chasing me. I'll go play Clock Tower or Outlast if I want that.
To be fair, Mr X only chases you for a short part of the game, basically while you're looking for those medal things to access the car park area. Once you know where to go, on subsequent playthroughs, it only lasts for about half an hour or less.
Nemesis will be after you the whole game AND shooting rockets at you. That's gonna be stresssful.
Just hearing those footsteps from Mr.X. Good thing I cleared out every zombie and covered up those windows in my first play through to make things easier dealing with this guy.
Still havenât played the RE2 remake. I downloaded the demo over Xmas and gave it a shot, but couldnât play it for long as the PS Pro fan noise was too loud. I had the same with Hellblade, but I drowned that out with headphones and it was a relatively short game. Not sure Iâd want the fan to be going like that for RE2. Such a shame. I wonder why itâs so loud? Iâve just started the Witcher 3 and thereâs hardly any fan noise.
this is gonna be SICK!! cant wait.!
@kyleforrester87 got annoying? Nice joke and I bet you will say the samething about resident evil 3 nemesis looking for you
@Bagshot stick with the original
@Undeadlogan what you wanna bet? A night in my arms?
@Shirayuki there was nothing wrong
@kyleforrester87 night in your arms? Umm if you have muscles
@Undeadlogan I have Chris Redfield in Resi 5 on steroids size muscles
@OmegaStriver byeeeeeeeeee
@kyleforrester87 how do you know he took steroids?was you there?
Itd be scarier if it were something more bizarre and monsterous rather than something that uses guns.
Like a pack of mutated lickers that can see or something
RE 3 was my first amd favourite back on ps1. I remember the thrill and heart racing that came when he smashed through windows or randomly turned up during exploration or back tracking, trying to figure out a puzzle or something! It was like nothing else I'd played. If they can make it any better than this will be a game of the decade for me.
@nessisonett I can recommend some high quality protective underwear if needed.
