If you've been keeping a close eye on social media and various forums over the last couple of weeks, then you may have noticed some rumours popping up with regards to Sony supposedly being stubborn with developers. More specifically, these rumours said that Sony's communication with various studios has been poor, particularly when it comes to getting them involved with PlayStation 5 game development.
Naturally, these kinds of rumours can build up a lot of momentum in a short space of time, and given Sony's relative silence over the last year or so -- at least, with regards to what the company has going on behind the scenes -- we started seeing a lot of "arrogant Sony" comments bubbling to the surface.
But it sounds like these potentially worrying rumours were unfounded. Alongside Sony's new PS5 information drop, ever-reliable Kotaku news editor Jason Schreier has wrote on Twitter: "[I] did ask a couple people about some rumors last week that Sony was communicating poorly about the PS5 and heard the exact opposite. One third-party dev said the hardware was excellent and tools were on time."
As alluded, Schreier's usually spot on with these inside takes, and we're much more inclined to believe him over these unsourced rumours. Sony's gained a reputation over the course of this generation for being easy to work with development-wise, so we don't see why the Japanese giant's approach would change for the PS5, especially when the PS4 has been such a colossal success.

A lot of so called 'rumours' are mostly rambling speculation based on a statement, a couple of blurry pictures :/ etc
Of course, sony didn't become number 1 console maker this gen by being stubborn with their partner.
I have my issues with Schreier, and others do too, but he’s usually in the know. I’d trust him over ‘the grapevine’.
If Jason Schreier of all people is standing up for Sony, it's probably true.
manu0 probably started the rumours to be honest
@JJ2 And a lot of them aren't even that. Many of them start with or include "I heard" or "I read somewhere" followed by some nonsense the person just made up on the spot. Say it to the right (or wrong) YouTuber, journalist, or Twitter user, get them to mention it in any way, and you get "rumors" like these.
@Beekeeper
Colin I heard it too?
Haha
Thing is pushsquare is as guilty as most sites running with about anything
"we're much more inclined to believe him over these unsourced rumours"
um, not go all factual or anything, but who is Schreiers source again?
Oh, yeah, an un-named unsourced guy "One third-party dev said".
So, when we like a rumour it must be true, but if we don't like a rumour it must be false. Good to know.
Oh, and by the way, there are a LOT of 3rd party devs on the the digital store. Unless Schrierer talked to every single company and dev trying to get a game on PS5 then it's possible, and very likely, that he just didn't talk to the ones complaining.
Come'on guys, this is simple stuff, no pipe or deerstalker hat required.
And for those who are solely Sony focused, there was a bit of this going on with the Switch as well. Whenever a new console launches there are always going to be smaller devs who dont' get dev-kits units b/c they are smaller, and some of the people at those companies will complain about the lack of dev kits. Does'nt mean they're wrong just b/c other companies did get dev kits.

There are literally a dozen or so games published on Switch every single week, but this article is only 3 months old.
@thefirst TLJ was really good. I love the standoff with Luke at the end! Epic!
