The Division 2 got its long awaited eight-player raid yesterday, and it's incredibly difficult. Now, a sturdy challenge can be a good thing in a team-based title like this -- it can provide veteran players with a great opportunity to really strut their stuff -- but the general consensus seems to be that this mission is just far too hard for its own good. At least, on consoles.
Here's the rub: we all know that aiming with a controller is never going to be as accurate as aiming with a mouse and keyboard, and that appears to be one of the raid's biggest problems on PlayStation 4. As of right now, you and your whole team -- eight players, remember -- need to be near perfect with every single shot, particularly when it comes to downing the activity's supremely beefy bosses.
Even with your damage per second cranked to maximum, if you're not killing your targets with pinpoint precision, you're likely going to get overrun and taken out. Numerous posts over on the game's Reddit suggest that even the most prepared squads are finding it borderline impossible to get past the raid's first boss.
This has, of course, led to accusations that developer Massive Entertainment isn't properly balancing the game for console players. Naturally, this ties into the recent news that The Division 2 didn't meet Ubisoft's sales expectations, particularly on consoles. Put all of this together, and you've got the recipe for some angry posts on forums and social media.
Hopefully Massive can work something out and tweak the raid sooner rather than later. Until then, though, make sure you don't run out of ammo in the comments section below.

The first boss is no joke. Tried for almost two hours with randoms yesterday but couldn't get past him. I think I'll just go for the Dark Hours event apparels for the time being.
Git gud bruh, PC master race.
I don't have any problem aiming with a controller. I manage to hit something with every single shot... just not what I am aiming for. I'd go for the PC version if I ever buy The Division 2, but first I'd need to find it under that mountain of dust it has been gathering for a couple of years.
I don't know about Xbox, but PlayStations have supported USB mouse and keyboard since PS3, and both devices can be picked up for very little money. Why don't developers just provide support in their games?
@Paranoimia because not everyone owns a keyboard and mouse and those who did would have a advantage?
Sounds like I won’t be soloing this one... 😛
@ellsworth004 But like I said, they cost next to nothing, so any serious player would surely invest if support was provided. Especially when people are happy to pay almost the price of a console for 'pro' controllers.
@Paranoimia i agree with the price point, but you would still have a large numbers of players who would be at a disadvantage. I think one thing people like about consoles is not having to mess with a keyboard. They make my wrist hurt while a controller does not bother me. But, maybe im just a pansy. ☺
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
Lol, I found the douchebag...
Git gud scrubs
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi ah..
@kyleforrester87
... and another one...
@MevinSmiley you’re an absolute magnet for em mate!
@kyleforrester87
Lol it seems to be that way old chap. I've learned that you douchebags usually run in packs so I'm expecting at least 1 more to show up.
@Paranoimia We want to play competitively on console with a gamepad. Games like R6:Siege, BF1, and the like would be ruined by it. It would be terrible for those just trying to have some fun.
The lack of K&M support still pisses me off to no end in ps4 games. On games where I play solo pve or coop I should be allowed to to use them. I don't know how D2 works with PvP but if there are sections with PvP then don't allow access to those areas with those that have KM on. May be harder on div2 depending on how it works but im not sure. I just know from the few weeks of Div1 I played I never did any pvp.
But games like Borderlands 3 or Rage 2 you absolutely should be able to use them.
I'd love to get back into pc gaming, but with life and family obligations it's just easier to stick with consoles.
@Jaz007 If you're just playing for fun, it shouldn't bother you that much. Besides, you're already potentially at a disadvantage to anyone using a 'pro' controller, as they can click a button underneath to perform actions which require you on a standard DS4 to (for example, in an FPS) let go of the right stick for a second and temporarily lose the ability to look around. So do we prevent people using those as well?
And as @gumbopudding says, there's no reason it can't be enabled for single player and co-op even if not in multi-player.
@MevinSmiley I like jokes, don't you ☹️
Of course I like jokes. As I'm sure you're aware, unfortunately in the gaming community, due to the abundance of trolls using "git gud" to make others feel inadequate as a way to counter some failure or insecurity in their real life, distinguishing between a joke & a douchebag statement is often as impossible as the Division 2 raid on console.
@Paranoimia but the only people willing to pay extra money, however little amount, and prepared to set up a configuration for kb&m are the more hardcore players. Whom are allready better than the average joe. The result will be that fewer casual players are going to play the game, this means a smaller playerbase and a less succesfull game in the long run. And for what exactly?
@Paranoimia Having players with an advantage killing everyone in a fashion equal to a hack isn’t fun. It’s much more of an advantage than a pro controller. Having a good match with heopdullt good matchmaking is a better idea of fun.
@MevinSmiley git gud scrub!
Imagine, when dying in a game like for example Dark Souls, and it would say : You died... Git gud scrub!
I think I would like that.
@Flurpsel If they're already kicking your butt with a controller, what difference does it make if they do it using keyboard/mouse?
@Jaz007 Matchmaking could pair like-for-like as far as controllers are concerned.
Besides, everyone is shouting about wanting cross-platform play, and it's inevitably coming... so you should probably get used to the idea for when you're dropped into a game against PC players anyway.
@Paranoimia FPS and TPSs that aren’t co-op won’t have PC console crossplay. I don’t think that one is ever gonna happen. Not unless PC users have to have a certified gamepad or something, and even I doubt it.
And they’re gonna kill you even more then. Like there K/D ratio will be 1.5 or 2.0 to what it is now. It’s gonna make it that much worse.
@kyleforrester87
I'm already good. Stay douchey Kyle.
@MevinSmiley you do it.
@kyleforrester87
Lol ummm ok Kyle.
Um ok. I never said anything whatsoever about hybrid gamers. I commented on people using "git gud" bc the Division 2 raid is almost impossible on console. As of this morning the raid still hasn't been beaten on console so apparently the console gamers saying "git gud" also need to get good... d@mm!t I just can't type out "git gud" anymore. Just looks so dumb to me.
Trolls suck. Take care.
@MevinSmiley that’s what she said.
@kyleforrester87
Lol god almighty you're a next level dork! Go have a pint with Lauren or go on a motorcycle ride or something. You win lol gotta ignore you now. The more I hear your gibberish, the more I question the future of humanity.
@MevinSmiley I once farted on the set of Blue Lagoon.
@Jaz007 Fortnite already does, as I understand it.
