This newly announced PlayStation 4 title looks pretty interesting. Called The Riftbreaker, it combines base building mechanics with top-down hack and slash action in a sci-fi setting. You play as Ashley S. Nowak, the titular Riftbreaker who travels to unknown planets to establish a settlement to allow for human colonisation. Using her mech suit named Mr Riggs (yep), you'll scout for materials to make upgrades while defending your base from alien creatures.
In a PlayStation Blog post, EXOR Studios co-founder Paweł Lekki even describes what sound like tower defence elements: "Galatea’s creatures won’t be happy with your interference in their environment. You can expect them to attack your base as you expand your activities. But don’t worry, you won’t have to fight all of them on your own. You’ll be able to construct defense towers, walls, and traps that will keep them off your perimeter."
It sounds like an intriguing mish-mash of ideas, but if the developer can make it all work harmoniously, it could turn out to be an engaging concoction. There's no release date attached to The Riftbreaker yet, but what do you think of it? Mech some noise in the comments below.

In a way, the description reminds me of Starhawk so I'm interested already though I would like to see a gameplay video.
I've forgotten it already.
I feel sorry for the alien creatures as Mr Riggs is destroying their planet for human colonisation. Spare a thought for them please!
Top-down hack 'n' slash. Seriously??? I was ALMOST excited for this to be what Anthem failed at.
Sounds pretty interesting.
Don't bother watching the trailer, no gameplay to be found.
