The BAFTA Games Awards is about to get into full swing, and it's just released its list of nominees. As has become somewhat of a trend, it's Santa Monica Studio's God of War at the front of the pack with a total of 10 nominations. The Performer category is where the game excels, with four nominations out of six, but it's also in the running for Artistic Achievement, Game Design, Best Game, and more.
A bunch of other PlayStation 4 exclusives are also recognised with a few nods each. Detroit: Become Human and Marvel's Spider-Man are up for art and audio awards, while the latter is also nominated for Narrative. Astro Bot Rescue Mission, which has often been overlooked at these shows, is nominated for Game Innovation, Game Design, and Best Game. Tetris Effect is also rightly recognised with nods for both audio and music.
Plenty of other great games are up for awards, too, including Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Celeste, Overcooked 2, and plenty more. Check out the full list of categories and nominees below.

GOD OF WAR TOPS GAME THAT THOROUGHLY DESERVING OF ALL THE AWARDS
I'm so excited it's the next game in my backlog to start. Loved the previous games even the Vita ports, this just looks so much more.

No Monster Hunter World but Destiny 2's nominated in one category?
Eh... no. The only awards that I don’t agree with are story & character, RDR2 excelled at that by a mile, but what’s done is done. God of War didn’t do it for me, pretty mediocre. I actually had a lot more fun playing other games.
@PhantomJ These are nominations, I don't think they've awarded anybody yet and yea RDR2 is waaaayyyy better than GOW in many categories. HZD is even more innovative than GOW.
I hope GoW beats RDR2 for best game!
God of War already is the most acclaimed game of the last year, also it’s my game of the generation. Can’t wait to see God of War winning another award.

@Quintumply @Cpt_Price I thought Rockstar San Diego (I think) played a pretty big part in it as well. Didn't they mainly do the first one while Rockstar North was the home for GTA.
I realise that everyone at Rockstar worked on RDR2 but seems a bit spurious to claim it was a UK made game. I could completely wrong though.
@naruball Totally agree, Bryan Dechart and Clancy Brown should have at least got noms in my opinion. While all the cast were good (much like God of War), those two were the highlight of the game for me.
I had not heard of some of these games until right now. And not just the obscure categories, might have to look up Return of the Obra Dinn.
