Hands up if you played Bubsy 3D? It was a platformer for the PSone that’s widely regarded as one of the worst games on the platform, and a fun bit of trivia for you: it was made by Days Gone developer Sony Bend. Anyway, the furry… Er, not sure what animal he is actually? A bobcat, perhaps? He’s back, is what we’re trying to say.

Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is a 2.5D platformer heading to the PlayStation 4 this coming September. There are some, er, quotes from the character himself in the press release: “Yes, I know there are many questions about where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing since Bubsy 3D. After that game’s HUGE success, I decided to become a transmedia star and signed a multipicture picture deal with 4F Pictures, I could have gone with Roger Corman but I don’t go in for that highbrow stuff.”

Interestingly, the release will also plot the return of Accolade, a publisher which operated between 1985 until 2000 and… Now appears to be back, we guess. To be honest, the game doesn’t look terrible in the trailer, and everyone involved seems to be well aware of the series’ past. Maybe it’ll turn out alright in the end?
