In a recent question and answer session over on Facebook, the NieR: Automata team responded to a bunch of frequently asked questions, giving way to a load of juicy gossip. To start with, producer Yosuke Saito is asked whether the original NieR will ever be remastered for current-gen consoles. Perhaps surprisingly, Saito doesn't say no - instead pointing out that if Automata sells really well, and there's a definite demand for the first game to be re-released, there's a chance it'll be made. It sounds reasonably unlikely, then, but still, there's hope.
Next up, Saito spills the beans on how long the release takes to finish. To get the 'true' ending - yes, Automata will have multiple endings - you'll be playing for around 25 hours. 100 per cent completion, however, will apparently run you closer to 55-60 hours, so there's clearly a lot of content stuffed away outside of the main story.
Does all of this sound good to you? Would you play a remastered NieR? Dare to dream in the comments section below.

The game length sounds awesome. Glad this won't just be a 3-4 hour affair.
To be honest I didn't even know there was a NieR. But I'm interested in Automata, though, looks good!
I keep getting NieR and Nioh mixed up.
Anyway it's nice to see a Platinum game longer than 5 hours.
Looks like I have another day one purchase up my sleeve!
Nice. Another P* game for my collection. Not sure if it will be a day 1 yet.
@PlaytendoGuy You're not alone, haha. Recently I was reading an article about Nioh, thinking about NieR, and I only noticed it when I watched the included video.
I found Nier really terrible and couldn't play more than 10 hours of it, but some of my friends are always raving about it so I might give the remaster a try.
I really enjoyed NieR, found it to be an unexpected, novel joy. Not sure I would buy the remaster, but I'm glad to support Automata, never expected a sequel.
If nier ps4 is a remake with new gameplay from Platinum Games it's a first-day buy for me, if it's just a remake I'll pass. Like I said before, nier 1 has great character, story and atmosphere but the gameplay is not good, it's better to watch all the cutscenes on youtube.
If nier automata is a success, it's better to make nier automata 2 rather than nier 1 remake. Or drakengard reboot with platinum games, it will be nice to have games with dragon from platinum
Tried Nier on a rented Xbox 360 once, and it was very intriguing. I certainly hope to play it before moving on to Automata, so it's good to hear they're considering a PS4 version at least. Or, you know, put it on Switch for even greater convenience of the ever important me. X^)
