Bethesda's E3 2016 press conference was notably lacking in, well… Anything of note, really. The publisher – which put on a stellar show last year – ambled out of the gate with a lacklustre selection of titles, and while the likes of Dishonored 2 and Skyrim Special Edition do legitimately look great… They're not exactly getting our pulse racing either. Here's everything you need to know. We're off to bed.
- E3 2016: Bethesda Announces Prey, Will Come to PS4 in 2017
- E3 2016: Skyrim: Special Edition Brings Way Better Graphics to PS4 This Year

Man...EA and Bethesda, I hope that Sony saves this e3.
At least ea had sequels and not remasters.
@Bazza78
Well, it's only one remaster (and a good one at that).
At this point though, I'd be delighted to have even seen some remasters from EA.
Did they announce that they will be doing framerate testing on all future releases?
EA's conference was, for the most part, awful. Bethesda's was decent but nothing to write home about. And we're all expecting very little from Nintendo. Hopefully Microsoft and Sony redeem E3 tomorrow.
Its a sad state of affairs when EA beats Bethesda at E3....
It wasn't as good as last year's, but I thought it was a good conference. In the time it took EA to even show a game, Bethesda showed at least 4 - one of which was a new Quake game in the vein of Quake 3: Arena. Also, Bethesda are having a stab at VR, which is a really interesting announcement.
I think you guys might be a little over critical of this one.
Conference was okay but nothing special. Another CG trailer for a game that was sort of shown years ago, expansions for Fallout 4 and a remaster of Skyrim? Dishonored 2 we knew about but the gameplay they showed was good. I actually think upon reflection, EA had a better conference, but unfortunately presented it so poorly and announced their 2 big reveals a week or 2 early?
Whilst EAs conference felt slow and boring, they properly announced Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 both due for release this year...which should probably be applauded as they were only recently announced. If you're into Fifa then that section was probably good, albeit a bit too long. I just felt they dragged out a lot of other stuff and have clearly announced Star Wars and Mass Effect way too early as they have nothing to show us!!? It doesn't help that Andrew Wilson puts so much corporate language in the conference it can be a bit disengaging.
@MadAussieBloke but it's not actually the game in VR? It's an "experience"?
I was going to watch it but after sitting through EA not sure I can face another just right now
Really happy for the skyrim remaster and bonus I will also get it for free on PC as In have it on PC as well. Apart from that meh.
@MadAussieBloke Fallout 4 looks like full experience on the Vive but I don't think Doom is. You'll have to excuse me, it was about 4am where I was so I was half asleep
Bit of a damp squib to start E3 off with really, for me anyway. Was so, so excited to see Mass Effect but the 'trailer' kinda fell flat IMO. Not a Bethesda fan either generally - Prey looks like it could be interesting and Dishonoured 2 will probably be good but not much else caught my interest. Hoping for some better stuff in the MS/Sony conferences...and at a last resort maybe Zelda Wii U will make up for it.
So the highlight was a simple graphics improvement for a recent game. Surprised they bothered to even turn up.
No! I was really hoping for an Evil Within sequel!
Considering what was rumoured - Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein 2 etc, NEW games, we got an MP/PC only arena shooter, plenty of self praise and patting on the back, DLC news, remastered news, 'Prey' (which really didn't impress compared to previous Prey 2) and Dishonoured 2 (announced last year) - The only 'new' game being Prey!
I personally had little/no interest in anything Bethesda showed off - at least EA had Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 - 2 games I am likely to buy. At the end of the day, I judge a presser on games that caught my interest, games I am likely to buy - after all its those that I will remember - not the delivery of the presenters etc.(unless its really bad)
Well now I'm kind of glad the Dishonored 2 trailer leaked early; I got to go to bed on time (hey its rough getting up at 5 on a Monday) and didn't seem to miss much.
I will get Skyrim day one. Many hours will be lost...
I'm mostly excited for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition and Dishonored 2.
