As the leaks foretold, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is bringing its brand of open world fantasy to PlayStation 4 later this year. The remastered edition was confirmed by Bethesda during its E3 2016 press conference.
Dubbed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition, it'll boast enhanced graphics thanks to a number of visual tweaks, as well as mod support. Skip to about 3:15 in the video that we've embedded to take a peek - it honestly looks pretty great. It launches on the 28th October.

Yes this looks good. Way better than expected. I expected it to be a very minimal upgrade with mods, but it actually looks nice!
I have the pic version, but I think I might pick this up anyway.
They had me until volumetric god rays and dynamic dof was mentioned among the upgrades. Will high motion blur also be added and called an upgrade?
Yes i want a technically playable Skyrim on PS4 that plays at a smooth stable frame rate. Some graphic upgrade like improved textures would be great. However stuff like motion blur, dynamic dof, and heavy fog/god rays are fine too just provide an on & off option.
When mods come to PS4 for Fallout 4 my most desired mod is one that disables the weather effects except for the rad storms and Glowing Sea area. I love FO4 but hate the ever changing weather effects and garbage overdone fog.
Is it 60 fps? Maybe I'll double dip if it is, my pc can play this game at 60 fps, so I'm not interested in the ps4 version if it's 30 fps. The most important things in first person shooter is the frame rate, I'm ok with 30 fps in other genre.
Skyrim a 5 years old game is so much better than Fallout 4.I think I'll get Skyrim again.
When I think about the ps3 version of skyrim I can't help but laugh a little, man things went bad there.
While i still wont get Skyrim ps4 it does look great
Yes! This is all I wanted from Bethesda. Never finished it on PS3.
Same day with World of Final Fantasy. I want both but ot sure whih one to get first. I haven't played Skyrim yet, but WoFF looks more fun.
I have skyrim on PC but my PC is more for work than play so this PS4 remaster is pretty tempting
Have to say, those graphics do look nice, good stuff. But I would hope they would give players the option of backwards flying dragons mode and 1 frame per second mode just to get that real nostalgic flavour should they feel the need.
I loved this game on the 360 and probably was one of the very few that had hardly any glitches in it.But like I said when this was rumoured I won't be buying again but hell it looks so much better!
@hi_drnick @CloudNine if you have skyrim on pc with all addons or the legendary edition they are giving you the remastered for free Bethesda confirmed
@Wazeddie22 I was in I'm pretty positive an incredibly small percentage of player who experience incredibly little issues on PS3. Oddly enough I got to just over 500 hours on my PS3 save (my PS3 was the launch edition 60gb version if that matters) before I let my younger cousin borrow it. He deleted my save which to this day he has not lived down. But at that point I decided to start playing on 360 to see what all the praise was about. Went fine until my first trip to winter hold. Loaded in and I had a dragon stuck in the walls of the college. About died laughing from the absurdity that I went so many hours without noticing many glitches on PS3 only to find a major one within maybe 10 hours into the supposedly (and soundly agreed) superior version. I'm so stoked to play this on my ps4 this fall it's not even funny though.
"Is this a remaster that you've been asking for?"
No. I found the dungeon crawling very uneventful and boring half way through and lost interest. Also much better RPG's have released since...
(It did a lot of things well though)
Great news! I hated the PS3 version due to its performance. I'm hoping they can release this WITHOUT any bugs though, maybe a long shot though!

I guess they have finally fix the playstation framerate issues. Just waited for a new generation.
Skyrim had a wonderfully bleak atmosphere about it...looking forward to picking this up all being well performance wise.
Yessss! I pumped over 10 hours on ps3 version but couldn't hack the poor graphics so gave up. 15 hours on pc but missed sofa and big tv. Now it's coming out on ps4 it's time to head back into skyrim and finally complete the adventure!
Best RPG still not beaten and its coming back for more on PS4 happy days
Not really that fussed about the Fallout Minecraft stuff but i'm definitely buying Skyrim R.
@BigDaddyT0101 500 hours??Jesus man,I put in over a 112 hours and thought that was a lot lol but having the save wiped..well let's just say I put in just 5 hours into Final Fantasy Revenant Wings before a mate wiped the save..not really friendly now
I think it all came down to luck on whether you had a bad copy.like I said I only had a few and one was at the start but was just some old chap near a barn missing his legs and an arm but somehow still walking around..was pretty freaky!Another I know prevented me from finishing a side mission.
I just hope for everyone's sake this version is glitch free
@Wazeddie22 absolutely agree. I have a feeling though that this version will be pretty rock solid. I probably shouldn't say how much time I've spent in skyrim between both consoles and pc though huh? Let's just say that for a wedding present my cousins pitched in and got me the collectors edition on 360 (I finally got married just over a year ago), my buddy who is a graphic designer made me a poster of dovahkin with my nickname that pretty much my entire family calls me (skyrimtim) etched into a mountainside, and my other friend got me the elder scrolls anthology for pc. Sadly It's not just skyrim that I'm like this with.
Since being introduced to daggerfall when I was a kid I've been hooked on tamriel and its lore for a long time. The elderscrolls series is the only media I get full on nerd for whether it be games, movies, or books/comics. There was a brief forgotten realms obsession thanks to balders gate 1/2 and icewind dale but morrowind snapped me away from that relatively quickly and until skyrim held my longest time spent in a game not including wow at close to 900hrs across 2 save. There is just something about the ES world that speaks to me and I wish I knew why.
I've actually never played an Elder Scrolls game, so this will be a great place to start!
@BigDaddyT0101 Hmmm thing is it looks better than Fallout 4 and that's nothing to write home about performance wise on PS4. I'll be impressed if this runs at a locked 30fps. Well, impressed is the wrong word... Perhaps surprised that Bethesda managed it for once!
Having beat (and Platinum'd) this about a year ago, I only care if the remaster is going to crash every hour or so like it did on the PS3.
@BigDaddyT0101 how does your wife feel about your Elder Scrolls obsession?she must of known what she was in for lol j/k the poster sounds pretty cool!I have only played skyrim though and loved it so can see why people love the series.I'd be happy if they remastered the others for ps4 as I would definitely try them too.
The only games I got obsessed with were final fantasy but then 13 came out and that was the end of that! (Although really excited about the new ones)
These are the moments I don't feel bad for missing out on some major games. I'm going to experience this in an even better way.
Sold.
Fus Ro Here we go again. What build to make this time?????
@Wazeddie22 oh my wife is more than aware. We've been together 10 years, and she's always been pretty cool with the gamer side of things, mostly because I don't usually game until both her and the kid are asleep barring a long awaited release or something that I'm playing with friends during the late afternoon/evening (Tuesday's generally for destiny reset). I wish I could give you good new on the old games coming forward but it won't happen. Even this for bethesda is an incredibly strange and rare occurrence that's makes me believe ES VI is farther away than even the skeptics among us believe.
If it doesn't occasionally bug out like it did on the ps3 I'm sold.
