Telltale's been guilty of overdoing it a bit in recent years, but we have high hopes for its Batman episodic series. The studio announced during a panel at SXSW overnight that this will be a mature tale led by Pierre Shorette and Nick Herman of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us fame. The developer's bringing its A-team, then.
Even better, this will be about Batman, rather than his extended family. Supporting characters like Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya will appear, but the release will be more about what it's like living as the Caped Crusader. This means that, apparently, Bruce Wayne will get just as much screentime as the Dark Knight – and sometimes you'll even be able to choose who solves a problem.
In addition, the story will also exist within its own continuity, so it won't be shoehorned into comic book arcs or anything like that. Telltale's also claiming that its engine's finally got an upgrade, as this will be a more technologically impressive title than its predecessors. It's saying all of the right things for us – and we can't wait to see more this summer.

I hope it's good cause this is the first Telltale's game that I'm actually interested in.
Looking forward to this. The "Batman" name alone will make it sell like crazy. I hope it lives up to the hype.
Ugh, I still need to finish a bunch of Telltale games still, the way they keep pumping them out and my limited game schedule it's hard to keep up. Lol
The potential of this idea could be massive. I hope it's more of detective story as that's a side of Batman we less. I'd wonder if they'd also consider getting some of the comics writers like Scott Snyder or Paul Dini involved.
My wife will play this for sure. Telltale games have always been sort of a miss for me in that your choices ultimately don't matter one bit. It can definitely be done effectively - see Until Dawn.
SUPER excited. I love Telltale games in the first place, so the fact that there is a new engine powering it (The main gripe I had with other series) hypes me.
Every time I play a Telltale game I think oh that's my new favourite in the series. Yes they do have some performance issues but they can certainly tell a good story. The only game which I have not interest in buying is the Minecraft Story. Hyped for the Batman game but also will get annoyed because I will have to wait a long time for the series to finish. Really need to learn to be more patient.
@ztpayne7 Funnily I prefer telltale games to until dawn. I much prefer the scripting of telltale games, until dawn literally made me want to watch the cast die a horrible painful death - I was meant to keep them alive I think.
@Tasuki - The Borderlands one is a must.
@themcnoisy haha! I think the acting is much better in telltale games. But their big "this game adapts to the choices you make" is full of crap. I'd watch my wife play a scene in the game and she totally regretted her decision. I warned her not to go back because 98% of the decisions don't matter, but she did anyway after completing the episode. She was so disappointed with how little such a meaningful choice changed the story.
If you want to say telltale tells a good tale, I would agree with you. Loved walking dead, wolf among us, tales from the borderlands (GOT was okay). But the illusion of choice is a farce. So far anyway.
I still think Batman should take a break from video games, but I wouldn't mind if this managed to shut me up.
@ztpayne7 I agree with you there. I've seen a flowchart online which describes the differences in choosing different options in the walking dead, they dont alter the story, maybe a character for a few scenes or a choice later on in the episode.
I think the choices matter less in the later games, game of thrones in particular just dismissed what I said in some conversations.
Glad that the Borderlands and Wolf Among Us team are doing Batman, hope it turns out great.
@Splat I have, just haven't started it yet. Still have to finish season two of TWD as well.
Have you ever thought "I enjoy batman but I just hate all this gameplay" then we have the product for you!
After minecraft story and tales from the borderlands I'm not sure if this will be any good.
@sonicmeerkat Have you ever thought "I enjoy batman but I just hate all this gameplay" then we have the product for you! Lol.
I just can't help to feel the Batman fatigue after Rocksteady's Arkham games.. Let's see what yall got,Telltale.
