After ten years of unsure development and far too many rumours of cancellation, Nioh is finally confirmed for release in 2016 - it was originally intended to be a PlayStation 3 launch title. The slice-'em-up will now launch exclusively on PlayStation 4, and it's bringing plenty of moody tones and samurai sword fights with it.

The release got a quick gameplay trailer at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, and we're quite excited to see more. Combat appears to have a weighty feel to it, while the monsters and demons on display look suitably creepy. With any luck, we'll hear about a possible localisation at some point - it's about time that we had a samurai game that isn't Samurai Warriors here in the West.
