The PlayStation Blog wasn't lying when it said that you should probably start downloading The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited PlayStation 4 beta as soon as possible, because the revealed file size might just make you spew your drink across the room. Try your best not to get any on your keyboard.
The beta, which includes the entire game, sits at - wait for it - over 50GB. This perhaps comes as no surprise, as the title's an absolute monster on PC, weighing in at nearly 100GB when everything's taken into account. At this point, we'll just pray for those of you with slower internet connections.
On top of this, it's also stated that the final product isn't even able to ship on one Blu-ray disc when it releases in June. This means that players will have to download a patch of around 15GB in size before they can hop online.
Are you furiously downloading as we speak? Have you had to cast aside and delete some beloved PS4 titles? Make 'oof' sounds in the comments section below.

lol... Nope
I want but never get into betas as I once said before. Oh well still gonna buy it
All these posts about hard drive space really worries me. I understand you can change the hard drive, but with my inexperience with tech I'm worried I'll break something instead.
It's like making elbow room is a flat requirement like paying rent. There's so many games I would like to play on PS4 but I don't want to constantly delete games and whatnot.
How much do you need to DL before you ca start playing? Or has Sony forgotten about that PS4 feature?
Oh beautiful. I look forward to the chance of a delayed email so I could take extra long downloading this during peak hours.
I don't want anything that big on my HDD, so... no.
@DerMeister Sony designed the PS3 and PS4 so that even a child can swap out the HDD. There is a tray on the side/front that has a single screw, take this out and the HDD slides out on a nice little tray. There are 4 screws holding the HDD to the tray, swap your new HDD out with the old one on the tray, slide it back in, put the original screw back on, and thats it. No opening up the system, no wires, cables, jumpers, or anything else to mess with. Only a little more complicated than plugging in a thumb drive!
Sometimes it feels like they want us to get used to downloading huge files so we can proceed to only digital games.
@rjejr Just like other features (like suspend/resume) I would wager that MMORPG's do not lend themselves well to being played while they download. This is generally for the offline/story mode of a game, not for the online multiplayer components. While it is possible, the game would have had to be designed from the ground up to be playable while its streaming its download (highly segmented areas, for example, like say Guild Wars). Its up to the developer to decide what a game can do (if anything) while its downloading (again the game has to be built with that in mind) not Sony.
Lol lol lol, I have fibre but even so, this will take a long time.
@thedevilsjester on PC That's just how it works!
The game looks very promising but I've just started Final Fantasy Realm Reborn recenlty, 2 mmo's are too much for me to handle
I don't know about this now. If that's how big the beta is, I hate to imagine how big the full release will be.
@JesWood13 From what we gather, the beta basically is the full release, just not totally finished. Taking into account the fact that a Blu-ray disc can hold 50GB of data, and you need to download a 15GB patch before you can play the final version of the game, we could assume that it'll be about 65GB in size.
@thedevilsjester Ah, thank you very much. That's very reassuring!
Good point what happened to playing after part downloaded? Most games don't let you now
@ShogunRok Yeah, that's kinda ridiculous. I think I'll be skipping this. I'll just wait for a mainline Elder Scrolls title to come to PS4.
So where is it on the store guys i cnt find any beta?? Im in englandland
So how is the witcher 3 only 30 or so GB? Those folks at CD projekt red must be using some sort of wizardry over there in Poland.
@DerMeister - The most important thing about replacing your HD is making sure you have the latest update on a flash drive before doing so.
This walks you through everything.

@sinalefa It's also possible that as graphics become more complex and game worlds become bigger and bigger, file size will have to match.
So 65gb. Why don't they just put it on two discs then? Developers need to start thinking of people with slower internet connections.
If this is the shape of things to come, my 2Tb could end up in danger of filling up!
I don't see the massive surprise to be honest PC has been doing it for years and look how big BF4 is anyway
@dellyrascal I hear you. I'm thinking I made a mistake by only upgrading to a 1TB HDD.
@thedevilsjester - So, no to the DL while playing?
Oh, regarding HDD installs, the 12GB PS3 requires the HDD tray to be purchased separatly, that's from experience. Just an FYI, I'm sure PS4 is fine though.
@rjejr I had a launch 60 GB PS3, a PS3 slim, and a PS4 and all of their HDD setups are like I explained. I havent had a 12 GB unit, doesnt make much sense to me that they even made such a thing, so I cant speak for that.
anyone got a beta code they don't want?? please? lol i can give you my email to send it to me or IG username
They need to make way bigger laptop harddrives, or Sony needs an update that allows an external.
@thedevilsjester - "I havent had a 12 GB unit, doesnt make much sense to me that they even made such a thing, so I cant speak for that.
I assumed you didn't have a 12Gb, what self respecting gamer does?, which is why I put it out there in case the guy you were talking to does. Only trying to be helpful not start trouble.
@rjejr I got that, didn't take it as starting trouble, sorry if my post seemed antagonistic.
@thedevilsjester - No, your post didn't seem antagonistic, but your avatar always does. Well that and I seem to rub everybody the wrong way.
@sinalefa
I totally agree, there's no other reason why every single game that's coming out these days should need such excessive patches on day one.
I've just brought the game. Got over 200g free space in my hard drive. Only games I've got installed is FIFA and gta. It's currently downloading. And guess how long it says!!!?!??? 24hrs. Wtf. Anyone having this problem on ps4? Yes my internet is not fiber but it's good enough.
