LittleBigPlanet 3 PS4

With the Destiny beta open to everyone at the moment, you may be hoping for similar treatment in LittleBigPlanet 3. Unfortunately, it seems that Sony and Sumo Digital want their most creative fans to play around with the PlayStation 4 toolbox before the rest of us get a look in. Writing on the LBPCentral fansite, Steven Isbell revealed that private beta invites will be sent out soon – but very few will be receiving one.

“Please be aware that space for this private beta is incredibly limited and only a small number of you will actually receive an invitation,” the community manager explained. “However, we thought that it would be better that you hear about this private beta directly from us than just through the grapevine.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean that you won’t ever get a chance to participate. “Please don't be discouraged if you didn't get chosen this time around,” Isbell iterated. “We still have plenty of news to share with everyone between now and release. And we certainly won't forget you all.” It sounds to us like there’ll be a public beta later in the year.

It makes sense to limit this early test period to renowned creator curators, as they’re most likely to expose issues with the toolkit. Moreover, previous LittleBigPlanet titles have gotten a lot of press coverage from the content that people have created prior to release, so don’t be surprised if we get some ridiculous videos showing what’s possible in the upcoming sequel soon. We did spy a 3D tennis game in the E3 trailer, which has this editor inordinately excited.
