Hot on the heels of the decent Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, ordinarily sluggish publisher Square Enix is busying itself with successor Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. The high-definition overhaul – which is being produced alongside PlayStation 4 sequel Kingdom Hearts III – bundles the second game in the series with PSP spin-off Birth by Sleep and the cut-scenes from Nintendo DS title Re:Coded.
And it looks the part, too, judging by this set of fresh PlayStation 3 screenshots. Deployed in Japan earlier in the week, the images show scenes from all three of the abovementioned games, with the portable instalment looking particularly impressive on Sony’s former flagship format. I still don't understand why RE:Coded (and also 358/2 Days) won't be the actuall games, maybe Nintendo holds some kind of rights but then again if they did then the cut-scenes woulnd't be in it either
IT MAKES NO SENSE!
I still feel both KH main games could have been released together, as they are doing with Final Fantasy X and X-2. So I will be borrowing this from a friend, as I may do with the first one.
@FullbringIchigo: It's probably because it would take a LOT more work to remake DS games in HD than PS2/PSP games, and they aren't even the best games in the series to begin with (well, 358/2 Days, anyway...haven't played Coded yet). It was a judgement call that getting the plot points to us was more important, and although it's a weird choice, I don't have a huge problem with it.
@Stuffgamer1 oh I have no problem with it, I just think it's weird not to include the full games
@sinalefa It made more sense for them to split KH1 and 2 into the 2 collections, if they're going to have 2 collections at all. If they didn't split it, then a lot people would only get the collection with KH1 and 2, writing off Birth by Sleep as a spin-off and unimportant. But it's very important to the plot for KH3.
Call it a ploy to get money if you wish, but it also makes sense to better make sure people are caught up on the story
@fullbringichigo the only reason that i can think of as to why its just the cut scenes and not the full game would be that 358/2 days and RE:coded were for the ds and use a touch screen which even if it is only a trivial component of the games it still wouldn't translate over to the ps3 and it would make those games seem incomplete
