Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Multiplayer & Co-Op Blow Out.

The upcoming follow-up to the 2007 smash, is readily preparing an open-beta for its multiplayer, to be included with copies of Sucker Punch's inFamous. While little was known about the type of multiplayer Naughty Dog were going to roll out, we can now confirm Deathmatch, Plunder and a new 3-player Co-Op mode will all feature in Uncharted 2 later this year.

Deathmatch allows players to take each other out in pretty standard 5 vs 5 gameplay. You'll find weaponary scattered around the map. Sully will make an appearance, as will Drake and Chloe, pitted against the black Mercs. You'll be able to traverse the environments or take cover in order to obtain a tactical advantage over your enemy. Hiding will also allow you to recover health, ensuring that using the environment is an essential form of online play. There are also perks a la Call Of Duty 4, allowing you to slap on two extra abilities tailored to your playing style.

Plunder is essentially Capture-The-Flag, tuned into Uncharted's treasure theme. The treasure, a golden idol, will have to be retrieved and returned to the base - the catch being that the gold carrier will both move slower and also lose ability to shoot.

Finally, co-op is a 3-player campaign separate to the games main single player storyline. You'll be flanked, fronted and downright pinned backwards by enemy mercs, thus requiring you to work as a team to progress. There will also be bosses, armed with powerful weaponry and armour to halt your progress. You'll need to revive each other also, so headset communication will be imperative.

At this stage, it's reassuring to hear that Naughty Dog haven't shoe-horned multi-player into the game, and are focused on making what they have live up to the standards set by the Uncharted name.

We can't wait.
