Carcosan Modifiers are unlocked after defeating the second boss in Saros, and are accessed by visiting Primary in the Passage.

They apply various effects to the game that fundamentally change certain aspects, alleviating some parts or making others much tougher to deal with.

How Do Carcosan Modifiers Work in Saros?

Open Primary, then tab to Carcosan Modifiers in the menu.

Here, you will see a gauge at the top middle of the screen, and below it are the modifiers themselves.

In order to use Carcosan Modifiers, you need to strike a balance on this meter.

Protections (left) make the game easier. Trials (right) make it harder. You need to keep the pointer within the middle section so the run is balanced.

You can't stack too many Protections (the limit is -3), but you can stack as many Trials as you like if you want a challenge.
