How Do You Beat The End in Metal Gear Solid Delta?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: How to Beat The End Guide 1

The old man has risen from his slumber to face off against Snake in a legendary stealth and sniper duel. This is a potentially complex encounter that sees you sneaking around multiple areas in search of The End, all the while avoiding his sniper shots.

He positions himself in a few different pre-determined spots throughout the encounter, and you can spot him by looking for the glint off his sniper scope in the distance. This will give away his position, and then you need to work out how to reach him.

Of course, you've already had the opportunity to kill The End before the boss battle, and there's also the cheese strategy of waiting seven real-life days to pass. If you don't play the game for seven days while your save is left in the boss battle, The End will simply die of old age. It's an amazing easter egg, but we imagine you wish to progress today, not in a week.

Other things to note are that there's a Trophy for sneaking up on The End and making him drop an item by holding him up, and beating him non-lethally rewards you with the Mosin-Nagant. If you sneak up on The End and hold him up once, you'll get a new Uniform called Moss.

It's important to recognise The End isn't shooting to kill; he's depleting your stamina. Therefore, make sure you have lots of food in your inventory so you can restore it. There are also lots you can find throughout the three areas in this boss battle.

If you look at the Map, the potential places he could be hiding are filled in with white circles. The Thermal Goggles also come in handy here, as his body will be highlighted in red, and you can track his footsteps if you sneak up on him once he runs away.

This all accumulates to an encounter where you hide and stalk one another, attempting to learn each other's location and then sneak up on them to deal damage. Look out for the sniper glint, and take into account context-sensitive clues, like when you hear him talking. This means he's close by. If he's alerted to you at close range, he'll drop a Stun Grenade and run away. Also, be prepared to change your Uniform and Face Paint to match your surroundings, as this makes it harder for The End to spot you.
