How do you go back to the main map in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores? Can you return to the main game's map? If you're playing the Burning Shores expansion, you might be wondering whether you can go back to the Forbidden West. Maybe you have some unfinished business to take care of? As part of our Horizon Forbidden West guide, we're going to tell you how to get back to the main game's open world map.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores: How to Get Back to the Main Map
Once you begin playing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, you will be taken to a new open world map. However, while the game treats the main game's map and the expansion's map as two separate things, they both exist on the same in-game overworld map.
Press the touch pad and you'll see the Burning Shores map. If you scroll up to the north, you'll quickly see the Forbidden West map come into view.
There are two ways to return to the Forbidden West's map. The first is to fast travel. Scroll up to the Forbidden West and highlight the point of interest to which you want to go. Press R2 to fast travel, which will cost you 1 Fast Travel Pack — an easily crafted resource. If you don't have any Fast Travel Packs, you can fast travel for free at any Campfire. Approach a Campfire and press Circle to open the map, where you can choose your destination and go there freely.
The alternative way to get back to Forbidden West's main map is to fly there. On a flying mount, head to the north of the Burning Shores map. At the northermost edge, you'll see a warning, telling you you're about to leave Burning Shores. If you continue flying north, the game will fade to black and you'll emerge in the Forbidden West map, at the Stillsands.
The only restriction on travelling between Burning Shores and Forbidden West is that you cannot travel while you're in the middle of a Quest. You can do so whenever you like during free roaming.
So, that's how to get back to the main map in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. How are you liking the expansion's map? Tell us in the comments section below, and check out our Horizon Forbidden West guide for much more.
