Honkai: Star Rail: Pity System Explained
Pity is a concept in gacha games designed to encourage players to keep pulling on banners until they get the reward they want. Honkai: Star Rail has a similar concept, which guarantees a 4-Star or higher reward for every ten pulls, or Warps. This counter resets every time you pull a 4-Star or higher reward. This means, if you pull nine 3-Star rewards, your tenth pull is guaranteed to be a 4-Star.
Pity also guarantees a 5-Star reward for every 90 pulls, although in the case of promotional banners you have a 50 per cent chance of getting the promoted reward. The counter resets when you pull a 5-Star reward. This means that if you've made 89 pulls without a 5-Star reward, your 90th pull is guaranteed to be a 5-Star with a 50 per cent chance of it being the promoted reward. If you don't get the promoted reward with your first guaranteed 5-Star, then you're certain to get it with your 180th pull.
