On this page, we're going to explain the procedure for creating your own Wand at Ollivanders. We'll cover whether your choices have an impact on the game, what each customisable option means, and suggest some Wand combinations if you wish to wield the same one as popular characters from the books and movies.

What's the Best Wand?

The choices you're given when creating your Wand are purely cosmetic; they don't affect gameplay in any way. Because of that, it's not possible to name a Best Wand because they're all just as good as each other. This is all about designing a Wand you like the look of and leaving the act of gaining power to level-ups and new Spell unlocks. Pick whatever you think looks best for your Witch or Wizard.

All Wand Customisation Features Explained

Now you know there is not a Best Wand to be had from Ollivanders, you can customise your spell caster across three different options. Below are explanations of them all.

  • Wand Style — Change the look of your wand, with three different colours for each appearance. The options can make your Wand appear more crooked or give it a handle, for example.
  • Wood Type — Change the type of wood your Wand is made out of, then make it longer or shorter, and finally adjust how bendy it is.
  • Wand Core Options — Select what the core of your Wand is made out of from a Dragon Heartstring, Unicorn Hair, or a Phoenix Feather.

Can You Change Your Wand?

Once you've customised and created your Wand at Ollivanders during the Welcome to Hogsmeade chapter, you cannot change your Wand. Your choices are locked in place for the rest of the game. The only way to get a new Wand would be to start a new playthrough from the Main Menu.
