What Are All Sumi-E Paintings Locations in Ghost of Yotei?

There are 18 Sumi-E Paintings to find in the game. Almost all of them are positioned in a beautiful environment, and you approach the large rock in the middle, sit down and paint the picture. You use the touchpad to paint them, following the instructions on-screen.

They're easiest to spot by looking out for the large rocks whenever you come across a stunning setting, but you only find them through open world exploration or by purchasing Traveller's Maps.

Careful Pincers Sumi-E

• Go all the way south to the Southern Coast, on the beach
• There'll be a rock decorated with flowers, and next to it is the place to paint the Sumi-E

Plum Crane Sumi-E

• From your Home, follow the Shikotsu River west
• You'll eventually reach a beautiful area full of purple flowers and a large rock
• Go to the top of the rock to paint the Sumi-E

Reward: Headband of Loss

Chasing Frogs Sumi-E

• In the northwestern corner of the region, you'll find Lake Jozan
• Next to the rock overlooking the lake is a place to paint the Sumi-E

Reward: Hat of Youth

Mount Yotei Sumi-E

• Along the start of the path to Tokachi Range, search the hill east of the Nupur Rest Spot
• Before the entrance to Blooming Ridge Shrine, turn back on yourself and continue up the rocky hill to find the Sumi-E location at the edge

Crashing Waves Sumi-E

• In the southwest corner of the region, go down to Otaru Beach
• There are two huge rocks sticking out of the ocean here, and you can climb up to the top of the smaller one
• Cross over to the bigger rock using the rope, and at the top, you can paint the Sumi-E

Defiant Roots Sumi-E

• Northeast of Stone Jaw Coast is a stunning field of purple flowers
• In the middle, near the river, is a stone sitting next to the Sumi-E

Chatting Crows Sumi-E

• On the eastern side of the region, follow the Nakagoya Spring river upstream to a small waterfall
• On the bank on your left side is a tree with the Sumi-E below it

Free Skies Sumi-E

• In the northern part of Ohara Plains, look for the single tree and rock up on a raised part of the valley
• Next to the rock, you can paint the Sumi-E

Season's Colours Sumi-E

• In the eastern corner of the map, in the Tomamu Marshlands, look for the Duelling Tree along the southern perimeter
• From its location, head north into the marsh, and you should spot the usual rock indicating a Sumi-E

Peaceful Kotan Sumi-E

• Along the southern perimeter of this tiny region, east of Niptay Mountain
• Look for the large rock with white flowered trees on top
• You can climb the cliff behind it, taking a left to climb further when you reach the first flat area
• At the top is the Sumi-E

Drying Bark Sumi-E

• In the southeastern corner of the region, where you find the Iwor Woods settlement, search next to the top of the waterfall to find the Sumi-E spot

Frozen Moment Sumi-E

• Follow the Teshio River near to its end on the western side of the region
• Next to the Black Dye House, just east of it, look for the usual flower-covered rock next to the frozen river

• Search southeast of the Deserted Village to find the flower-covered rock near a ridge

• The map icon will make it seem like this Sumi-E is along the coast by the ocean, but it's actually within the castle walls
