What Are All Puzzle Boxes Locations in Ghost of Yotei and How Do You Solve Them?

Ghost of Yotei: All Puzzle Boxes Locations and How to Solve Them Guide 1

There are 12 Puzzle Boxes to find in the game, and they're all located in Teshio Ridge. This is the snowy region at the top of the map. You'll find Puzzle Boxes at Kitsune Altars and in front of Altars of Reflection once you've liberated a Yotei Six Camp in this specific area.

When you get one, you can solve it in the pause menu and earn its contents. Below you'll find all Puzzle Boxes locations and how to solve them.

Picked up from the ground in Crossroads Trading Post after it's been cleared as a Yotei Six Camp

Peculiar Box

Where to Find Peculiar Box

  • In Teshio Ridge, search for a Kitsune Altar between the Sentinel Forest Camp and the Old Graveyard in the east

How to Solve Peculiar Box

  • Move the two vertical black panels down
  • You can then slide the top of the box off

  • In Teshio Ridge, search the Sarobetsu Forest in the west of the region
  • The Kitsune Altar with the Puzzle Box is directly above the Sarobetsu Forest lettering on the map

How to Solve Fascinating Box

  • Slide the black, horizontal piece to the right
  • Pull the whole side down one click
  • Slide the black piece all the way to the left
  • Pull the side down another click

  • On all four sides of the box, you can slide the vertical black piece down
  • Do so, and then the top of the box will open

  • In the southwest corner of the region, where Teshio Coat is, look for the Kitsune Altar

How to Solve Intricate Box

  • Looking at the two horizontal black pieces, move the last chunk of the top piece on its left side and the last chunk of the bottom piece on its right side
  • You can now slide down both vertical pieces and open the box

How to Solve Manageable Box

  • Move the entire side down one click
  • Slide the black piece to the left
  • Move the entire side down one click a second time
  • Slide the black piece back to the right, but don't push it all the way back in
  • Slide the entire side down one click a third time
  • Slide the black piece all the way to the right, then move the side downwards one more time

Perplexing Box

Where to Find Perplexing Box

  • In Teshio Ridge, complete the Deserted Village, and you'll spawn in front of the Perplexing Box

How to Solve Perplexing Box

  • Work your way around the sides of the box, and move every black piece possible
  • Having done so, the top can be opened

Devious Box

Where to Find Devious Box

  • In Teshio Ridge, complete Soya Port, and you'll spawn in front of the Devious Box

How to Solve Devious Box

  • On the top black horizontal line, move the two pieces on either side
  • Doing so allows you to move both vertical pieces down
  • You can then move the two pieces on the bottom horizontal bar
  • Return to the vertical pieces and move them both one more click down
  • The Devious Box will now open

How to Solve Challenging Box

  • On the front, slide the black bar to the left
  • Turn to the right side and move the black bar left and the vertical bar down
  • Return to the front and slide the bottom half of the vertical bar down
  • Go back to the right side and return to the left bar to the centre
  • Back on the front, slide the horizontal bar to the right
  • On the left side, move the right horizontal bar to the right, and the middle vertical bar downwards
  • The top of the Challenging Box should now open

Surprising Box

How to Solve Surprising Box

  • Move the black piece to the right
  • Move the entire front side down one click
  • Move the black piece to the right again
  • Move the front side up one click, then move the black piece further to the right
  • Move the front side all the way down again to unlock the Surprising Box

Elaborate Box

Where to Find Elaborate Box

  • In the Sakuru Woods, head to where the "R" in "Sakuru" is, as you look at the map
  • Here, in-game, you should find two enemies searching a corpse in a wooden hut
  • Kill them and take the Elaborate Box from the corpse

How to Solve Elaborate Box

  • On the top horizontal bar, move the left part to the side, and then move the entire left-hand vertical bar down
  • Move the left part of the bar back to its original position, then move the left part of the bottom horizontal bar outwards. This lets you move the entire left-hand vertical bar down another click
  • Return the bottom-left bar to its original position, then move the top left bit of the top horizontal bar to the left yet again. The main left-hand vertical bar can move down another click
  • Move the right vertical bar all the way down, allowing you to open the Elaborate Box

Epic Box

Where to Find Epic Box

  • Along the northern edge of the region, find Shipwreck Shoal
  • From its location on the map, ride north and look up the mountain to your west
  • Under a small cliff edge, you should find the Kitsune Altar with the Epic Box

How to Solve Epic Box

  • On the back side, slide both halves of the vertical bar up and down
  • Still on the back side, slide the horizontal bar to the left
  • On the box's left side, move the horizontal bar left
  • Return to the front of the box and move the left part of the horizontal bar to the left. This allows you to move the vertical bar down one click, and then return the left part to its starting position
  • Go to the left side of the box and return the horizontal bar back to normal
  • Go to the back side and move the horizontal bar all the way to the right
  • On the right side of the box, move the horizontal bar all the way to the right
  • Return to the front of the box and move the right part of the horizontal bar to the right, and the vertical bar down a click
  • The box should now open
