Demon's Souls Dirty Colossus.PNG

The Demon bosses in Demon's Souls are the hardest and most stressful part of the whole affair. Filling up on souls in the stage prior only to have to prove yourself against a giant enemy with a massive health bar to match is almost always a daunting task.

But don't worry, in this Demon's Souls guide we'll have you covered by breaking down each of the game's bosses and the best way to approach them. Take a deep breath, have a look at the tips below, and try your best to enjoy yourself and the challenge that the bosses pose.

How to Beat the Dirty Colossus in Demon's Souls

This Dirty Colossus is actually surprisingly similar to the Leechmonger. They're both gnarly-looking, move quite slowly, have HP-leeching attacks, and are (lucky for us) weak to fire! Bring whatever fire stuff you've got whether it be Pine Resin, Firebombs, or the Fireball spell – they'll all work wonders.

Move Around as Much as Possible

The Dirty Colossus' attacks are extremely slow and almost pathetic. It'll slowly wind up before attacking, and all of its swings are easily avoided by sidestepping a few paces. You can dodge roll instead if you're cutting things close, but it shouldn't be hard to avoid damage from its direct attacks if you stay mobile.

Look Out for the Insect Swarms

The main thing to worry about when going up against the Dirty Colossus are the insect clouds it'll toss at you. It isn't a big deal if they hit you, but (just like the Leechmonger's leeches) they'll sap away your HP and leave you dead if you aren't careful. Keep that health bar high with whatever healing grasses you've got to stay safe.

Kill It With Fire

You technically can't damage the Dirty Colossus without destroying the barrel it's encased itself with, but there's no real need to worry about it since it'll break pretty easily with any fire attack you use. It has a pretty hefty health bar, but any fire attack should melt right through it. A sword buffed with Pine Resin or a fire spell will make quick work of the Dirty Colossus and get you its unique Demon's Soul in no time flat.

Dirty Colossus Rewards

Defeating the Dirty Colossus will get you:

  • 33,433 souls
  • Eroded Demon Soul
