I had a question, I got a PSone (original large model) it looks like new and is in good condition but when I tried out FF9 it played the openning movie and when it was loading the next part of the game after the movie the screen was black but you could hear the looping sound. My guess is it was trying to load but it was taking forever. I then tried the same game on my PS2 and it played perfectly. I also had a little bit of a problem trying FF7 where it froze for a moment while loading and it had a few jumpy moments. :/
What's the cause for this problem and does anyone know how I can fix it?
The first PS1 I got I paid $20 for it because it had a bad lens. I was in like 5th grade I thought I was McGyver and would just fix it with old parts from a walkman...
Either way, the issue with mine was that it would only move the lens sometimes causing it to get stuck loading sometimes. Short of replacing the lens mechanism, you're probably out of luck.
You might also check to make sure the discs aren't dirty. This could be causing some issues.
