So I've recently bought a new Sony Bravia TV (KD43X89J if it helps) and I'm wondering how I go about playing my PS2 through it and my small collection of PS1 games via the PS2.
There's no dedicated composite ports on the back of the TV, only a small AV mini jack that says "AV In, Video/Audio L-R". (I took a picture but can't see a way to upload it).
I've gone and bought a mini jack adapter (this one; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253113578404?hash=item3aeebeb3a4:g... thinking it'd do the job but my TV isn't receiving any signal or sound at all though it although it does recognise something is plugged into the port.
I know that an answer is to buy a HDMI adapter but I've read that PS1 output isn't supported by HDMI making them unplayable so that seems to be a pointless option.
Does anyone have any advice to share or has anyone managed to get theirs up and running in a similar situation?
@FatPlumber You could get one of those affordable AV to HDMI converters, I use them primarily with my HDTVs. (Like this one I have, https://www.amazon.com/Converter-ABLEWE-Composite-Supporting-... ). Worked on all my older game consoles (PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Dreamcast, etc.) since it merely upscale / stretches out the image to fit the TV. This is primarily how I was able to play older games on my 4k TV until I reverted to a monitor where it works the same. All you need after getting the converter is an extra HDMI cable to plug into the TV.
The confusion likely is with the dedicated PS2 to HDMI adapter ( this like, https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Adapter-Monitor-Supports-Dis... where it requires you to change settings in the PS2 console for it to display a superior image quality, but on the downside of PS1 titles not displaying.
