Topic: PS2 hidden gems or exclusives you'd consider essential?

I was feeling nostalgic for what is probably still Sony's most popular system. The mighty PS2! So anyway give me some ideas of games I may have overlooked. I'm mostly interested in exclusives. If it's also on GameCube it doesn't count.

I was thinking one I'm considering is Dark cloud but I hear those games have alot of resource management and something about town building which honestly is kinda turning me away but if the games are really that good I may try them anyway.

So let's have it. Lay some good games on me and I'll look into them.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Optimus Prime

Areus

Wild Arms
Rouge Galaxy
Clock Tower 3
Haunting Ground
Forbidden Siren1&2
Arc The Lad Twilight of Spirits.

Stuntman. Stupid but fun.

Ratchet Gladiator/Deadlocked is rarely talked about but is easily my favourite in the series.

The Warriors. Better if you love the movie but one of Rockstar’s less mentioned games.

Deus Ex and Half-Life, I guess might count. Incredible PC games with somewhat miraculous PS2 ports that people forget exist.

Mister Mosquito is insane but good fun. Very weird.

The Getaway might not have ever been the Eastenders game of my dreams but it’s worth a play.

The Thing never came out on GameCube so I missed it at the time but played it when I got my PS2 and it’s really quite brilliant.

Shadow of Rome is incredible for its time minus the stealth sections. Although Spider-Man has crap stealth sections so I can forgive this game too.

God Hand is one of the best cult games ever so definitely get round to that.

Rez is amazing but just play the PS4 version.

Blood Will Tell is based on the manga Dororo but it’s strangely one of the best DMC-likes out there.

Plumbing’s just Lego innit. Water Lego.

Shadow Hearts Covenant is one of the best RPGs on the PS2. The battle system is turn-based, but has a real time element where you have to time button presses on a spinning dial, which keeps you on your toes. It's a very wacky game, with an insane story set in an alternate-history WW1 Europe. The cast of characters, includes a pro-wrestling vampire, and there's also a gargantuan pink cat called André, which leads to one of the funniest scenes in all of gaming. It's awesome.

@Zeldafan79 Alas, my collection is predictably one-note but, if you're a fan of the source material, I'd recommend checking out 24: The Game. One of the console's most overlooked exclusives.

I've also recently purchased Headhunter and its sequel. Haven't tried them yet, could be terrible, but the alternative would be tracking down the first game on the Dreamcast, and I think that'd be a far taller (and more expensive) order than hopping on eBay and snagging a PS2 disc for pennies.

Otherwise, I got nothin' to write home about on my shelf. Just a bunch of licenced multi-platform games, which always tended to run better on anything other than a PS2 anyway.

Dark Cloud is a really good Game, however, its an early release.
If i remember correctly, the Town aspect in the first one is quite limited. (The 2nd Game did way more with it)

Dark Cloud 1 / 2 and Rogue Galaxy often go on sale in the PS Store, Wild Arms 3 and Arc the Lad too.

Tastes are always different, so its hard to tell what you'd like, but ill just share anything i can come up with.

To add to the Games that would be worth looking at:

.Hack is amazing, but they will cost you a Fortune nowadays if you want all 4 Parts of it.
(G.U has a remake on PS4 so better play that instead of the Original ones)

Jade Cocoon 2 is recommended if you like Dragon Quest Monsters.
The Cast is a bit childish but the Story is still good, especially if you played the First one on PS1.

Gradius III & IV / V if you happen to like Side Shooters.

If you like RPGs, the Atelier / Ar Tonelico games might be worth to look at.

Soul Calibur III was really good, and when your Sick of it, Bloody Roar 3 / 4 might interest you.

Breath of Fire V is hated by most, but it was an Okay game, maybe you'll enjoy it. (If there's nothing else to play anymore)

Back in the Day i heard a lot of good things about Darkwatch, but i can't speak for it myself.

Ephemeral Fantasia i liked, not essential, but Hidden for sure.

Drakengard 1 & 2 might be good, haven't played them yet thou.

Eternal Ring was really good, if not confusing a lot of Times. (Also available on the PS Store if memory serves right)

Klonoa 2 Lunatea's Veil seems to be Pretty good from what i can remember watching people playing it.

Kuon is considered a Hidden Gem, but it might set you up a 3 digit price nowadays.

La Puelle Tactics could be decent if you need a TRPG and your done with the Disgaea Games.

Legaia 2: Duel Saga i personally enjoyed a lot, but most people like the First one more so there is that.

Magna Carta 1 is hidden for sure, but Gem i don't know.

The 2 Maximo games are decent enough.

Onimusha Dawn of Dreams is an Amazing game and quite Essential to any PS2 Collection!

Persona 3 is for sure up there too.

No one mentioned Suikoden yet, so ill gladly do that. (Suikoden III / IV / V and Tactics)

The Bouncer is a Fun game and quite overlooked nowadays, so i thought id mention it.

Also, a Mention of Unlimited Saga, even when its generally hated by everyone, maybe you can enjoy it.

@OrigamiCrane You mean Shadow of Memories? (Shadow of Destiny in the US)

Reservoir Dogs, if you like the movie you may enjoy this. Use code to free roam.
Total Overdose, stupid fun.
The Godfather, real voices of the movie characters, even Brando, but not Pacino.
