I think I played 64 last year on my N64, and even that version holds up.
@nessisonett@Ralizah Sunshine is my favourite because of that reason. I appreciate when developers restrict themselves, and that's exactly what they did in Sunshine with level design; every one of them has a tropical island theme. Ricco Harbor and Noki Bay are the water levels, and even those are in stark contrast with each other; one is an industrial level, and the other one is located in a secluded coral reef. A hotel instead of a traditional ghost house. Even Gelato Beach seems to be Sunshine's version to a desert/sand level, with multiple levels involving disappearing sand blocks, the sand bird, or growing sand castles to topple over the Wiggler.
I also like how each world follows a miniature story line that occurs throughout the episodes. Each episode sees a more ''cleaned'' or fixed version of that level, and the last episode is usually a celebration of sorts.
Think I'm about to fight the final boss in Gato Roboto. It's mostly been a pretty breezy time so far, with the exception of the bosses (nothing too infuriating, just usually takes me 5-6 times to take them down), so hopefully the last one isn't too much of a difficulty jump.

If they did a 3d all stars 2, which I am sure they won't, what games could be on it? I'm thinking Mario galaxy 2 and super Mario 3d land but I'm struggling to think of a third game to round out the package, maybe 64 DS but that would seem a bit redundant.
@nessisonett the pro controller has a funny d pad on it tbh, it's ok on most games but sometimes the buttons register the perpendicular direction instead. There is a fix for it with some selotape that I'm yet to do as it hasn't bothered me enough yet. As far as adapters go, I have the magic S pro which works on switch and PS4 (there are two other adapters, the magic s works on PS4 and the magic ns works on switch but the S pro works on both). To be honest I only got it for messing around with, I haven't used it as my main choice for playing any games yet and it doesn't work with other adapters plugged into it so I can't use the official GameCube controller adapter (I don't have the mayflash one to try) and I can't use the classic controller to USB adapter on it though I think it might work with a Bluetooth Wii remote connected to classic controller though I haven't tried
@ralphdibny They could do New Super Mario Bros Wii, Galaxy 2 and 3D Land as they came out in 2009, 2010 and 2011. No way they would though, I reckon Galaxy 2 will just get a mid priced port.
About adapters, I think I’ll just muddle through with the joy-cons even though they’re controllers made for ant people.
With my indie itch out of the way I decided to buy Devil May Cry... 2.
I know it's considered the worst one, but I just can't but help play them in order & I played the first one around this time last year, so it just feels like the right time to play it. Anyway, it's biggest issue is apparently the fact that it's super easy, so at least it's not broken or anything (though knowing that, I'll probably find it to be surprisingly hard, lol).
Hopefully it'll hold me over until 3D All Stars releases.

@RR529 That’s a brave decision there. I have the HD Collection and was going to play 2 until about 5 of my friends all separately told me that it was terrible and I should just move onto 3. Perhaps I’ll at least try it at some point!
I've completed the first 7 missions of DMC2 at this point, and so far the claims about it's difficulty seem to be holding mostly true.
I've rarely gotten into trouble with basic enemies, whom seem to get instantly stunlocked when you set your guns ablaze for the most part (and you lock on to the nearest enemy by default), though I assume this was an attempt to mitigate irritability regarding off screen attacks (it still has the same kind of camera system as the first game, but the areas are a lot larger, so enemies usually spawn off screen). Rather the player get to cheese enemies rather than the opposite. There are these harpy enemies that are hilarious to fight as whenever they show up you can just get to shooting and they'll occasionally fall from the top of the screen one by one as you kill them.
Bosses are a bit of a mixed bag. I had some trouble with the giant ape as I just couldn't dodge it's jump attack, but I still scraped by on my first try. There was a water based tentacle boss which is the only place in the game I've died so far, and while being up in it's face aggressive served me better than staying back & playing intelligently, doing so certainly doesn't keep you safe from attack as the NL review indicated (it has a poison cloud protecting it's core that damages you if you're up close), and I scraped by that as well. However, the Wolves, Tanks, & Helicopter are just as inept as the review indicated (I occasionally got nicked during the Wolf fight, but nothing that put me in particular danger). I will say that I liked the giant boss that emerged from the skyscraper. It wasn't hard, but learning it's pattern & fighting it as intended worked perfectly and was fun. I was confused at first though because it starts you off in an area that's identical to how the Tanks & Helicopter mission started off (which takes place right before), so I get the impression that they were supposed to be different ideas for the same mission, and they just opted to include both.
However, I've now beat all the bosses mentioned in NL's review and am probably not quite halfway through the game, so I'm interested in learning if the rest of the bosses are better/harder or not.
I'd also like to point out that aside from a few health upgrades I've obtained by collecting Blue Orbs/Pieces, I haven't actually bought any upgrades yet other than one gun upgrade.
Only exposure I've had to DMC (outside of Nocturne, lol) is the demo for DMC 5, which really put me off the game. It's a pure character action series, right?

@Ralizah Yeah, they’re basically the original spectacle fighter. Wouldn’t be any Platinum Games without DMC. The first, third and fourth are great, I kinda bounced off 5 though. The third is the best imo, 4 had about 4 bosses that they made you fight a whole bunch of times.
@Ralizah, expanding on what @nessisonett said, the first DMC was developed by the guy who would go on to found Platinum while he still worked at Capcom, and is considered the progeny of the "stylish action" genre of which they're known for (he didn't work on any of the sequels, though).
The first actually started off as a concept for Resident Evil 4, though once development veered into a more action based focus it became it's own thing, though elements of it's RE heritage can be felt in the first game. Most notably the fact that the game entirely takes place inside a spooky castle (which becomes more twisted the further you get, and is considered one of, if not the most spooky locale in the series) that has an interconnected layout that involves puzzle solving & backtracking. However, progress has been segmented up into "missions", at the end of which your ability is graded (much like Platinum's games). Later games in the series would be designed with a level/mission based progression system from the start.
I'm still new to the series myself, only playing the first last year after playing Astral Chain. The second is considered the worst in the series, largely because they rushed it out the door after the success of the first, without the guy who made the first.

I've never found DMC2 that bad to be perfectly honest.
It's not great... But it's pretty decent for what it is.
I'm sure I read somewhere that when the platinum guy left, the one whom took over the DMC series (...I'm terrible at remembering names 😂) found himself in the situation where the game was to be shipped in six or so months and the only thing the team had actually done for the game was programmed in Dante's Stinger Move and that was basically it.
Probably a bit of an exaggeration but at the very least it wasn't playable and not that much was done for it.
So it's kinda impressive they managed to release it in a very playable, albeit easier and not so complex, state. Hell they even had the Lucia campaign too.
3's definitely the best in the series though.
-EDIT-
I found the below whilst looking at TV Tropes in DMC2's YMMV tab
The Devil May Cry: 3142 Graphics Arts artbook revealed that Hideaki Itsuno not only came in about halfway through the game's development period, but also had a mere six months to slap together the finished project—with the scenario not yet written at the time, no filmed cutscenes, no finished environments, no Devil Trigger for Dante, and no moves for Dante programmed in other than his infamously nerfed Stinger.
Also the guy whom founded platinum wasn't involved with but there was a completely different unnamed director apparently
@nessisonett The cool thing about Persona 5 Scramble is that it's barely even a musou, since it's not a spinoff, has social features, and the battle system is so heavily modified that it doesn't feel like traditional Warriors gameplay. It's basically a new P5, but with real-time combat.
HW:AoC looks to be more of a traditional musou in that regard, but being positioned as a story prequel to BotW, I'm still quite excited for it.

@Ralizah It has social features but they're INCREDIBLY LIGHT
The confidant system is not present at all in the game and most of the social sim elements are done through event cutscenes. The calendar system is also surprisingly just a visual addition to mimic the feel of Persona, while time management is actually not that emphasized, and you can do stuff like exiting and re-entering the various Palaces (which are called Jails in this game) without a day passing in the calendar.
@Ralizah The first Hyrule Warriors has an insane amount of content, I still drop in and finish stuff off when I can. This one looks more like a linear experience for now.
