Topic: Help me find this game's title...

Hello all

Could you help me find the name of a PS1 game I played a demo of many moons ago?

It was a 3d platformer type game, with early Japanese style/anime-ish character design. The main character was a young man who had to travel through dungeons to fight monsters and gather resources so he could rebuild his village.

The village building mechanic had an almost sims-like (think Castaway era) grid layout where you could choose where to put new buildings once you unlocked them.

I can't provide much more information than that as it was on a demo disc and I couldn't go very far into the game.

Azure Dreams maybe? I collect a lot of retro games and what you described fits that game perfectly. I knew nothing about it and bought it because the disc itself looked really unique. Also hello right back.

Hmmm it looks a little different from what I recall and I don't remember it being so heavy on the in-game menus.
I seem to remember a slightly more 3D look - more akin to early FromSoft titles like Eternal Ring. While Azure Dreams is on a 3D map it still uses a lot of sprites. I wonder if that's 30 years of memory fading though!
Maybe this is it and the demo wasn't as fleshed out.

@Hapless OMG THAT'S IT! Sorry I didn't realise it was a PS2 game.

It would have been early days when I had the demo disc and I didn't get a console of my own right as the PS2 first became available.

After seeing your suggestion I went and had a look around for other posts on reddit and whatnot about the demo disc and I'm fairly sure my uncle had a bunch of subscriptions to game magazines which is likely where I got all the demo discs from. I'm a bit bummed I didn't keep them.

Methinks I will have a hunt for a copy one of these days...

@DemonStar89, Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle (the sequel) are on the PS store too (Dark Cloud is £12), I bought Dark Chronicle a year of two ago
