@oliverp Well I mean, you can play most CoD titles from the 7th generation on Series X since they are backwards compatible. The original Modern Warfare trilogy, the first two Black Ops, World at War, Call of Duty 2 and 3 and so on are all on there.

Speaking of CoD 2, I'm on the fence of getting it because I really want to finish the campaign on Veteran and grab all the achievements. Most of them are tied to finishing the campaign on Veteran, so it's a very straightforward achievement list. I've read that CoD 2 on Veteran is about as hard as the original Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran, which I didn't find as challenging as the first Modern Warfare. So I might just get it and play it on Veteran.

@colonelkilgore Nice I did like the coop in the original MW2, spec ops and it was a shame that they changed it all in the remake that you played.
I platted PS3 MW2 a few years back as a mate messaged me out of the blue and asked to coop, I had given up on the plat as the coop missions are quite demanding.

Anyhoo if you fancy some more COD, Infinite Warfare is pretty good...lots of sci fi action although the plat is mostly out of reach though you will pick up a few ultra rare trophies if you exhaust the campaign (not too difficult).

I completed Uncharted 4 the other and I really enjoyed it Probably my favourite of the series, but I did play the trilogy some years ago, and my overall memory is soured by my time with the third game. I thought the balance was more in favour of exploration over combat, which I preferred.

Will definitely play Lost Legacy in the not too distant future.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

@CaptD yeah the co-op in this new one is pretty challenging too tbh… good fun though.

Well, I’ll deffo play through these new Modern Warfare trilogy and then maybe I’ll check out Infinite Warfare and Black Ops if I’m still hankering after some more CoD.

Just finished Dragon's Crown Pro on PS4 after roughly 12 hours of playtime. Thank freaking god I managed to finish this game. It got gradually harder and harder towards the end, despite having CPU allies. My money was dwindling and I genuinely thought I was going to be at an impasse with this game. Thankfully, the final boss wasn't that hard and I managed to finish it.

The game is somewhat fun but it's so repetitive and the progression system isn't that good. It's meant to be played with friends as the fun factor primarily stems from playing with your friends and not from the game itself. The story is fine but you won't be playing this game for the story.

Overall, this is in my opinion the weakest Vanillaware game I've played but that's because it's not my cup of tea. I just don't like this type of game. I'm sure people who do would like it more than me.

Just finished off all the co-op on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and as someone who doesn’t generally go in for online multiplayer (unless the platinum depends on it) it was really good… enjoyed it more than the campaign tbh.

@colonelkilgore Cool that you enjoyed ModernWarefare 2. As stated in the review thread I had recently a very good time with God of War 3.

@oliverp glad that you enjoyed it after, when I get some time I’ll be sure to have read 👍

@LtSarge About my experience with Dragon's Crown. Beautiful game that's fun at the beginning, but quickly becomes tiresome as it goes on. Never bothered collecting most of the trophies for it on Vita.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

@LN78 Hey man. Fair points, I enjoyed the methodical nature of it all and the whole Twin Peaks vibe was right up my street. I can see why the points you raised could rub the wrong way for some though.

As i said, i was just curious what it was that didnt land more than anything just to see a different viewpoint. World would be dull if we all thought the same way and all

@conelkilgore Awesome. Your impression of the game was one of the first posts I read on the forum a few years ago. That was also I think a starting point to wanting to play the game.

@LN78 yeah, the lack of a physical edition does still annoy me. I dont mind grabbing digital stuff ive missed if its on sale, but for my 'main games' I always go with a disc. Thanks for taking the time to respond pal.

@Ralizah Glad to see that I'm not the only one who felt this way! It was so annoying getting to the end of the game only to find out that I had to play through all the levels again. Granted, there were new boss fights, but still. And once you finish the game, you have to go through all levels again on hard difficulty (where the recommended level is 50 and you beat the game around 30, which means a lot of grinding) in order to get the "true" ending. Definitely didn't want to do that lol.

I am looking forward to playing the next Vanillaware game on my list though, which is Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. I've heard a lot of great things about it!

Just finished Tomb Raider: Legend on Xbox 360 after roughly 6.5 hours. This game honestly surprised me, I had no idea it would be this much fun to play! Granted, the platforming was a bit wonky and that became more apparent towards the end of the game as the levels were getting harder. But besides that, I really enjoyed playing it. The shooting was fun and when the platforming worked, that was also fun. The puzzles were for the most part good, with a few that genuinely stumped me. There were also some motorcycle sections where you had to fend off enemies and those were so much fun! I think the craziest part of this game though was driving a forklift through an ancient British tomb and destroying coffins with it lol. Absolutely insane! The story was also really compelling and the locations you visited were varied and interesting, such as a secret Soviet experimentation facility from the 50s.

For a game that came out in 2006, it holds up surprisingly really well today! It's been a long time since I've played an adventure game in the style of Tomb Raider/Uncharted/Indiana Jones and this one definitely satisfied that craving for me. I wouldn't say that it's better than the survivor trilogy as those were much better in terms of gameplay. But as an overall package, it's a very enjoyable adventure and it's not even that long of a game. I highly recommend it and I'm super looking forward to playing Anniversary next.

@LtSarge Odin Sphere isn't a game without repetition, but it's a tremendously better experience. Was flat out gorgeous on the Vita. Have yet to play 13 Sentinels, but otherwise, it's probably my favorite Vanillaware title to date (was iffy on Muramasa)

@RogerRoger I'd actually be interested in playing the remasters of Tomb Raider I-III but it doesn't seem like the re-releases will offer difficulty options or changes to the controls. I'm fine with tank controls in Resident Evil, but combining them with platforming in Tomb Raider is not appealing to me at all. Not to mention how brutally challenging the third TR is. So I think I'll pass on those games unfortunately and stick with the PS3/360 trilogy.

Finished Super Mario Bros. Wonder today. This is the best 2D Mario platformer I've ever played. Literally every level is unique and has something different going on, whether it'd be the Wonder Flower ability or a new enemy. This game is just filled to the brim with creativity, something that's been missing from Nintendo for years now (at least with the 2D games). It just does a great job of surprising you at every corner and not sticking by a strict structure. I'm genuinely impressed by this game and Nintendo. It's not just another 2D Mario, it's its own thing. It's an absolutely phenomenal experience from start to finish and I loved it.

@LN78 Bummer that the game didn’t stick the landing. I’ve yet to play Spider-Man 2 but I have it on deck to get to in the next few months. I need to mop up FFXVI. After getting through the initial adjustment of what the game is, compared to prior FF games, I’ve come to enjoy it for what it is. But I can definitely recognize where many players have had complaints.

As for SM2, was it mainly the narrative aspect that didn’t appeal or was it more related to gameplay? Lack of innovation? I’ve heard the story really picks up in the final act but I don’t know anything about how it ultimately ends. I’m obviously not looking for spoilers, but I’m just curious. Whatever the reason, it has to have been majorly disappointing to be already dissuading you from the inevitable third entry.

And I think I remember you did get to play Baldur’s Gate 3, right? I think you enjoyed it if I recall correctly? Maybe there’s some AAA hope yet. 😄

@LN78 Ah, got it. Fair enough. I thought the first two Spidey games’ stories were fairly good. Wouldn’t put them in the highest tier, but solid storyline and characters for a game. The FFXVI story (although admittedly steeped in copious cutscenes and paced poorly at times) is hitting above expectations for me. I am actually really smitten with it. I’m glad you recouped some of your money for it though. It’s why I try to go physical if I can!

And can’t wait to play BG3. If I’m not blown completely away by it then it will be a disappointment

Just beat Resi 5 on veteran difficulty with a friend of mine, that’s the 3rd or 4th time I’ve played it over the years - lots of fun! It wasn’t too hard until the final chapter where it all went a bit nuts. The encounters needed quite a bit of planning and attempts on very limited supplies. At some points it seemed impossible… lots of fun! Unlocked professional difficulty now 🤔

@kyleforrester87 I’ve yet to play RE5. Do you think Capcom continues to go in order and it will be the next RE that they remake? Or do they go back and do RE0 or Code Veronica or something?
