@Shigurui thanks. I just caught up and the new version looks pretty good to me. But it seems there was a bit of stink online and people weren’t happy with the anniversary rewards (37 pulls, new glider and other assorted things) Kuro said they are listening and we’ll see what we get. Personally I’m pretty happy with the game itself, far more than HSR for example.

@z0d15g0d end game content.

Whimpering wastes I just completed all rewards for Respawning Waters: Chasm for the first time, getting 15480 / 15000 across 7-11. 3 x A grade + 2 x S grade

  • 7 - 2940 / S grade
  • 8 - 3000 / S grade
  • 9 - 3070 / A grade
  • 10 - 3090 / A grade
  • 11 - 3380 / A grade

It took me quite a few additional runs to get this.

For Respawning Waters infinite Torrents I can’t quite get any of the rewards yet, but I only had a couple of runs and can only get 3340 / 4500. Rewards come at 3,500, 4,000 and 4,500 so I only need a little more to get the first. But it’s tough.

It’s only 175 gems per month I’m missing so not the end of the world

For all these modes having characters that can group the low level enemies and then a DPS who can AOE is a big help otherwise you spend too much time on the low level enemies in the first few rounds. So Jiyan, Roccia, Shorekeeper, Camellya, Carlotta all pretty good imho.

As for ToA I’m basically always getting 24/30 in the Hazard Zone. I feel more than that is whale territory. It’s only 100 gems per month I don’t get, so again not the end of the world.

How are you getting on?

@z0d15g0d @Shigurui Additonally on top of the 37 wishes they already announced it seems we are getting another 30 wishes (10 standard, 10 character, 10 weapon I think) by way of apology for the perceived bad rewards. I’ll take it!

@themightyant What teams did you use to achieve those results? The other day I just realised my Jiyan was underleveled. He was OP when I was at a lower SOL level I didn't even notice his skills weren't at the max SOL level limit. So been farming and rebuilding him as he's the only viable Aero DPS I have.

Camellya only groups enemies together if you angle the attack correctly otherwise I find I'm wasting at least 5 secs in her attack which pushes the enemies in one direction whilst the loose enemy is getting even further away.

Carlotta is too much of a beast. Even enemies with Glacio RES (except immune) pose no issue for her.

Do you also find with Cantarella that you spend more time looking at Resonance skill icon to see if it's the correct Jellyfish? that tends to break me away from what's happening on screen which is unfortunate.

I just started doing ToA with my semi built Shorekeeper and yea she's totally worth it. I'm also rebuilding Zhezhi with Empryean and so far the results are much more impressive.

@z0d15g0d For WWastes almost exclusively:

  • 1 - Carlotta, Zhezhi, Shorekeeper
  • 2 - Camellya, Roccia, Verina.
  • A few were Jiyan, Mortefi, Verina/Shorekeeper if there was a good reason to switch.

I used these as i'm most familiar with their rotations, in a mode like WW speed and optimising rotations to get back to your DPS with all buffs at the right time, squeezing out one more window is essential to a good score.

N.B. spending to get a 20%+ boost on a signature weapon would also help, or vertical investment into one character to make them 20%+ stronger, but I don't do that. To be honest this whole mode is spending bait even more than a lot of other gacha endgame content. Just be content with getting as far as you can, you won't complete it all without spending.

I REALLY need to learn, practice and master some other characters / teams. e.g. Cantarella, Changli, Brant, Jinhsi, Phoebe, Yinlin, Xiangli Yao. I vaguely know how to use them all but not master their kit and rotations.

But to be honest I am not sure even my Camellya rotations are all that good, I need to study her and her teams rotations some more having now played her. Camellya felt particularly strong in WW because of all the early low level enemies that you can group / AOE hit / stun lock - if one enemy gets away and has to be hit separately it can massively change your score. My Jiyan and Carlotta teams rotations are strong though.

I haven't used Cantarella much, same as above, need to put in the time to learn her, the little I did play I found a bit clunky for the reasons you described and a few more.

My Zhezhi is still the old set, I often don't update old characters with newer sets and last time I looked at it the maths was only a 2-6 percent difference depending who's methodology you followed meaning Sub-stats were likely more important and I have a good set... do I really want to farm again? Probably not. But I might consider it.

In due course let me know how you are getting on in WW and ToA in terms of scores / rewards.

@themightyant I recently got back to using Jiyan. I've mostly rebuilt him and also got Mortefi up to lv 80 with required skills at lv 8. Looked up his ideal combos on game8 which were quite different from how I had been using him lol. Using his Bis echo then his enhanced ult right after tends to nuke everything especially if Shore keepers ult is active. I haven't gotten past an A ranking is Whimpering from stage 6 onward which is annoying AF. It's like not getting SSS in DMC lol.

Will you be going for Zani or saving for Ciaconna? I missed out on Phoebe and they're already doing her rerun.

z0d15g0d

themightyant

@z0d15g0d I rolled for Zani mostly because I already have Phoebe and I haven't played her. Though this does mean rebuilding her as a sub-DPS. I won the 50:50 but it took 70ish wishes. I know almost nothing about Ciaconna other than she's an off-field Aero sub-DPS/support.

My biggest concern is I don't have a good weapon for Zani. I don't have the standard banner 5 star weapon and all my other 4-star weapons are equipped. I either have to craft one or take it off someone else. (I've said before I don't like switching builds between characters)

I do have 75 pulls saved for the weapon banner but I want to save that for a character I love playing like Carlotta. I'll try and use Zani over the next 3 weeks to figure out if that is her or I keep saving those weapon pulls.

Who are you pulling for, or are you saving?

Yes Whimpering Wastes is tough. I don't actually like it very much as an end game mode to be honest, I don't think it's fun. Too much seems to depend on things like grouping the early rounds enemies and getting rid of them quickly. Too much RNG.

@themightyant I rolled for Zani and Phoebe and managed to get them both in about 85 pulls so i'll be giving Ciaconna a miss. Got Zani close to her max levels and gave her Xiangli's Verity as that's the only decent gauntlet I have. Phoebe will be staying at lv 60 for a while as I'm completely out of all viable resources lol. The non premium weapons really do suck and need to be sorted.

The Wimpering grouping rng is so frustrating. Even elite enemies run off in all directions. I don't even bother and just restart when that happens. These are the same enemies that are all too eager to attack on the overworld.

What's with the "come back in a month to receive these rewards" event? That's the dumbest thing I've seen in a while.

z0d15g0d

themightyant

@z0d15g0d Nice one! That's a great set of pulls. Enjoy building that team.

Totally agree on W Wastes the grouping aspect is so frustrating. Not a great mode imo.

Also agree on the wait almost a month for the rewards. What a weird thing to do, I suspect it's to keep the anniversary complainers in-line, letting them know there are more rewards coming. But as you said seems dumb.

Don't underestimate the Ocean's Gift event weapon we got specifically for Phoebe, for a freebie 4* that thing is really decent. I don't have any 5* Rectifiers to compare it to but its no slouch, she slaps hard with that thing.

Shigurui

z0d15g0d

@Shigurui Oh crap I completely forgot about that weapon as I did not have Phoebe at that time and even when I was looking for equipment for her I ignored it thinking "That's an ugly weapon skin, doubt I'll use it" lol.

@themightyant Thanks dude! I won't force myself with W Wastes. The high crystal rewards is pretty poisonous lol.

Anyone enjoying Zani as much as I am? Countering Hacate's ridiculous attacks is extremely satisfying. I expected her to be more tanky though.

@z0d15g0d - Don't have her mate, barely played it since the anniversary update started. I'm on the cusp of quitting it tbh. I'm all gacha'd out. I do my HSR dailies which takes under 3 minutes and that's about all I can stomach lately. Cool you're having fun with Zani though.

Shigurui

themightyant

@z0d15g0d I haven't played her much yet. I have this problem with all the gacha games right now, keep pulling characters and not using them much. It's because it takes so long to build them, to study and really learn their kit PROPERLY, to learn the rotations and kit of other characters in the team, in order to maximise their use. Time is the problem.

It's mostly because I am playing too many (Genshin, Wuwa, HSR) and i'm frustrated with how much time that takes, I literally login do the minimum possible to get gems and logout. Dailies are kinda OK (though it adds up quickly) but it's really the number of events just takes too much time. It's exacerbated right now because it's summer and i'm both out during the week, if only for a walk, and away most weekends. So I have a lot less time to play games.

I've also been obsessed with Clair Obscur: Expedtion 33 which has been occupying most of the time I do have to game. But I did login to HSR last night for some times and complete Seal Slammers, Pure Fiction, and half of MoC... i'm just behind on it all and it feels like a drag. Feels like something has to give.

themightyant

z0d15g0d

@themightyant The downside of having great rng luck in these games. The devs still find a way to punish players who aren't P2W with limited resource drops. Especially since the creep isn't bad yet so you already still have a plethora of mains to choose from.
More time to live and game less is a good thing to have I'd say especially now it's warmer lol.

z0d15g0d

z0d15g0d

@Shigurui The anni events sucked but I still prefer the combat and the fact I can skip all the babble in cut-scenes and conversations. This is the problem I have with HSR. I have already ignored much of their new story so I don't know what's going on. The puzzles on the maps were what kept me going but that's pretty much it. I've only played 2 gachas so maybe gacha fatigue hasn't hit me just yet.

z0d15g0d

Shigurui

@z0d15g0d - I'm just tired of service games period mate. I've dumped 1000's of hours into both Destiny and The Division games, Warframe. Then the gachas, Genshin, ToF, WuWa etc. I'm burned out across the board.

Tbh, Clair Obscur and Stellar Blade lit a fire under my ass about how good one and done gaming is and I have a backlog of those games I'll never get to play if I don't stop playing all the service stuff. I can do 3 minutes of HSR a day and the nonsense 8 hour story slog every 6 weeks but everything else has to go.

Shigurui

themightyant

@Shigurui I feel you mate. I'm in a very similar position. ZZZ was easy to quit as I wasn't that invested yet. But I like WuWa and Genshin's gameplay more than HSR's. The awful HSR story is just making that decision easier.

It's not that these games are all bad, there's some great elements, but those are spread thin. But the real issue is the opportunity cost, they take so much time up and leave little else for anything else. And yet I don't seem able to quite let go yet. I feel like an addict at an AA meeting, who is relapsing!

themightyant

Shigurui

@themightyant - The hardest part of quitting Destiny 2 was the social aspect. I had a really cool group of friends from Australia, Mexico, US and The Netherlands that played and we had a blast together. Leaving that behind was a wrench. Gacha wise I quit Genshin long ago, I'm so far behind now it'd take me a year to catch up and I refuse to give it the time so that's permanently done now.

As for WuWa I think I'm done there too, great game and I love the combat but I took a good look through my backlog and I'd rather put time into that. I'm sticking with HSR but only on my main account. I've given my alt away and deleted that profile from my console. Onwards!
