@nessisonett it was about just the right amount of spooky for me but something was missing that kept it from being absolute required viewing, though I couldn't put my finger on exactly what.
@colonelkilgore really wanting to watch that. good to hear it's got someone's seal of approval. trying to cap off a rewatch of Breaking Bad and then I'm going straight for The Chair. I lean more toward dramedy type stuff than probably anything else.

@RogerRoger Speaking of likeable villains, have you ever watched the show Hannibal with Mads Mikkelsen? It's actually my favourite TV show of all time, I absolutely loved every episode of it. I loved it so much that after I watched the season finale for the last season, I literally stood up and applauded. It was just so good. That man can play as very likeable villains. Don't know if you've played Death Stranding, but he's in that game as well and he's just such a great villain. Anyway, if there's one show that I think you'll like even more than Sherlock, it's probably Hannibal. Absolutely phenomenal show and I don't think I'll ever find something that will top it.
@LtSarge Hannibal was sublime TV. I never got round to watching the third series (and the fact it got cancelled after that has sort of put me off) but the ending to series two is one of the finest episodes of TV I've ever seen. He plays Hannibal brilliantly though.
@colonelkilgore@zupertramp I really liked the cast in The Chair but I felt it jumped about tonally quite a lot and with only six episodes it tried to cram a bit too much in. I also don't know how I feel about the "cancel culture" theme as it doesn't really take sides on whether it's right or not but I guess that's sort of how it is with those institutions; it's about the perception of the university not whether something is necessarily right or wrong.
@Keith_Zissou@Thrillho I feel like anything that Mads is in becomes instantly phenomenal. He's just such a brilliant actor, even in Death Stranding I was absolutely mesmerised by him. Definitely one of my favourite actors of all time.
@LtSarge@Keith_Zissou@Thrillho Yeah Hanninal was ace. The mind games he played with everyone, especially the FBI agent had me almost squirming in my seat as it all unravelled. And the imagination in some of the murder scenes was incredible. Sick and twisted, yeah, but still incredible.

@RogerRoger The director’s cut of Death Stranding has a photo mode. There we go, you’ll probably love it now as it’s a lovely world with lots of opportunities to take photos in!
@RogerRoger I'm weirdly not interested in Death Stranding either. No matter how many awesome things I see or hear about, I'm not moved any closer to wanting to get it. I'm not massive Koijma fan though, and I've only really enjoyed Metal Gear Solid of the games he's been involved in that I've played. Which isn't many.

@RogerRoger I really enjoyed Sherlock also. It was a pleasant surprise. And yes, Moriarty was the star of the show for me. When you can steal the scene from Benedict Cumberbatch that’s really saying something as that guys is fantastic. As is Martin Freeman.
@JohnnyShoulder I remember having a reluctance to play Death Stranding too. Then I became its greatest ambassador. 😄
Nevertheless, I actually admit that the game is not for everyone.
I’m actually worried that the Director’s Cut is going to ruin the game. Some of the additions seem like they’re there to make it easier and the deliveries less deliberate in order to speed up and make the game more “gamey.” It will probably appeal to the masses better, but hopefully not lose its unique identity in the process. Kinda like putting an easy mode in a Soulsborne game.

@Th3solution Ah yes, I was thinking of you when writing that and I thought I might be breaking your heart or something. 😂 Kinda like when an angel loses its wings or a fairy dies.
Not sure exactly what puts me off from the game, but I did see the directors cut (sorry not sorry Kojima) changes and did make me think maybe I'll give it a go at some point. But it won't be until I see it at a good price or on NOW/Plus (the likely of the former happening is unlikely though).

@Keith_Zissou I used to watch The Walking Dead all the time when I was younger but stopped at like season 6 or 7 because it became kinda repetitive. Like the formula for that show is that the group goes to a settlement, try to fit in with everyone else but ends up ruining it and destroying the settlement, then they leave and find another settlement, destroys it, rinse and repeat. However, now that I'm subscribed to HBO, I noticed that they have both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. So after a long hiatus from these shows, I think I'm going to enjoy watching them again. Especially now that I've played through almost all the Telltale Walking Dead games, I honestly just want more Walking Dead now.
On a side note, I think Fear the Walking Dead is more interesting than the main show because it takes place so close to the actual outbreak and the characters are all normal people instead of these badasses you see in The Walking Dead. But yeah, both are still great shows and I can't wait to start watching them again.
@Keith_Zissou@LtSarge I think I've seen upto season 9 or 10. The one after Degan kills some of the gang. There have been some seasons which have been not good, but overall I've enjoyed em. Not seen it for a year or so, but will go back in it when I next sub to Disney +.

@Keith_Zissou likewise, figured may as well stick with it even if nothing else to see how it ends. I felt it the show improved when the whisperers were introduced in season 9. It's just a shame Andrew Lincoln left by that point as he was the best part of TWD.
Finished watching season one of Game of Thrones and holy crap, I'm totally invested in this show now! Right off the bat I just have to say that one aspect of this show that I absolutely love is just how they manage to end off most of the episodes in an awesome way. It's always ends in something huge happening or with a revelation and it's just so good. Especially the season finale, like even though they didn't wrap up anything I still felt very content after watching it due to what happened at the very end. Moreover, I think the first season did a great job at spending the first half establishing the Game of Thrones universe as well as the characters, while the second focused more on build-up for the second season. Hopefully the second one will focus more on major things happening, as we already saw glimpses of that in the season finale.
Anyway, I'm absolutely loving this show so far and I can't wait to watch the second season. Don't know if I'll do that right away as I'm very interested in checking out other shows now that I'm at least done with one season of GoT.
@LtSarge Yeah that ending to season 1 is a sign of things to come. One of the fun things me and my work mates used to do was try and guess who would last each season, then discuss the reasons why. It was kinda like our own mini round table discussion! 😆
There are not many TV shows that bring us together like that, as we are usually split up with what we are watching. Line of Duty was like that the last time we were all in the office, but unfortunately I'd not kept up to date with that.

Watched the first couple of episodes of The Great and it’s living up to all the good reviews back when it released. Funny, clever and some good performances.
@JohnnyShoulder That's actually one reason why I regret not having watched the show much earlier. A lot of my classmates back in upper secondary school were always talking about that show. I was listening to the Rooster Teeth podcast at the time and they were constantly gushing about it as well. Not to mention all other conversations I've excluded myself from since then because I still hadn't watch the show. Probably would've had some good discussions if I had only watched it earlier. Can't imagine there being that many people left today who are still interested in watching the show but haven't at this point!
@LtSarge Your excitement might motivate me to jump back in. I think I abandoned the series at season 4. I was about 2 seasons behind and still enjoying it but then I kept hearing how the series got worse and worse and then the finale just was torched by fans and critics alike so it took the wind out of it for me. But I’ve always wondered if I should go back.

@Th3solution Like some people have said before, I think it's for the best to just watch the show yourself and form your own opinion of whether the rest of the seasons are good or not. I tend to agree and at this point I do want to watch through all the seasons. Even if it turns out they're bad, at least I got to experience it firsthand so that I won't regret it in the future. It might even be the case that the previous seasons were just too good and the later ones simply couldn't match them but they're still good. Either way, only one way to find out!
@Th3solution@LtSarge I'm probably in the minority and didn't have as many issues with some of the later seasons as others. It was only the last two or three episodes of the final season I had any real problems with. Of course, there were episodes I didn't enjoy as much but you will find that with any long standing series.
