Agree with @Gremio108. Of course it hurts immediately after defeat, especially when the whole nation had our hopes up and got carried away, but it is still progress and we should be proud of what the team achieved.
Hopefully we can now look to build a new team and develop a more attacking style that includes more of the talent (Grealish, Sancho, Foden etc.)
@Gremio108 absolutely the way to look at it, semi final of last world cup, final of euros only lost on penalties. World Cup next year with a hungry young team. They can play different formations and have enough football savy to change how they play mid- match, which is a huge change from the 4-4-2 years. Hope their fans give them credit and acknowledge what Southgate has achieved in turning their fortunes around.
Something needs to change, whether that is some kind of identification verification for social media or the platforms stepping up with blocked words, I don't know. But it seems to be getting worse and worse, and it seems nothing is being done about it.
@Kidfried You are right black players have always been racially abused, however if someone is caught these days they do get punished in some countries. I believe some Hungary fans got caught singing some kind of abusive chants at the Euros, and they got got punished and so did the football team for Hungary. Personally I think the punishment should be stricter in these instances, but that is a discussion for another day maybe.
You see too many people say that when they do report they have been racially abused, the social media platforms do not even recognise it as being racist. They seem to be content to just continue what they are currently doing, when it cleary is not good enough. Like I said, something needs to change.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Kidfried That France v Switzerland match had almost everything to make a perfect match. Spain were involved in some corkers too.
@nessisonett Yeah that was a great goal. That Denmark free kick against England was brilliant. Not seen many worldy free kicks this tournament. But fricken loads of own goals.
@JohnnyShoulder That’s true, I actually quite like the idea of the Europa Conference League so I hope teams like Aberdeen and Hibs enjoy their chance at European football. Wouldn’t be surprised if Celtic joined them.
Funnily enough adding Joe Hart in goal didn’t solve Celtic’s woeful defence. I mean, hey, we beat Jablonec away from home but Nir Bitton is an absolute liability and we’ve let in stupid goals yet again. No team can solely rely on scoring more goals than they’re letting in, racking up basketball scores.
