(leaving out the At symbol so it won't ping, this was the previous post I moved it to here, you already saw and replied to it. I'm making sure I keep other threads clean)

It's relatively unknown but I've seen a bunch, my Dad liked Westerns so we'd watch some of those too. I've been to Texas and saw real cowboys, hats, spurs and all, even a 'howdy ma'am', good looking too and you could tell they worked with their hands. Montana was really brief, hours not days. It's a beautiful part of the world and what you said about a ranch is something I've heard from a couple of people. I think that's what Oldgamer did but for Australia, he's an Ex-pat living down under with horses and I imagine in the outback. I'd never keep my horses in the city, they need and deserve that country air. I lived there when I first moved to England, my original Guardian did what you said. Settled down with a ranch of sorts, it seems like a lot of men reach that stage where retirement is just the logical next step. For my Partner it was more about bringing someone/something into his life that sort of fits the relationship and retirement side of things, hence my repertoire of animal noises, we're weird because we can afford to be and there all kinds of exotic pets. We still haven't settled down per-say and I can't imagine not being a nomad, I have multiple addresses in multiple countries and the idea of settling down seems so strange. So does using one language, I know of British people who use one language almost their whole life, that's so odd.

I do understand it if a person has been doing the same thing for so long and they've put their time in. I know my Partner won't, that same Imperial expansion is for us not creating a way of life but preserving it, hence arranged relationships/etc. We can't settle down when the globe is in a way our living-room, and technically is. I started writing this post in one country, and finishing it in another, it's that constant.

Visiting my horses/puppy are a highlight but they need that country air. Those recent two-weeks of forced bed rest were because what I had almost turned fatal, I'm fine now and that stagnation too is finally gone so I'm back to bouncing time-zones. I do think Montana is the ultimate choice for a horse ranch, I knew someone years ago who's Parent was also in Diplomacy. Her Family had relocated to Montana and did have horses. I'm not sure why other than they do run exchange programs in the State and do host foreign delegations and I suppose a lot of Senators have retired there too. Other than all of that sky and land I don't know, perhaps people just seek the isolation and the removal of other people. For you it's horses, for my Partner it's me, when we do spend time together everyone knows to vanish. So maybe that's the same need for isolation/removal of people too because he doesn't entirely see me as a person and neither do I, I'd hate to be fully human it sounds horrible (no offense but your world/etc is too overwhelming, I don't know how you do it or handle humanity all day every day) I'll never be able to personally understand retirement either, I'd have to do something to warrant that feeling of 'I deserve this' and I realistically can't.

I actually studied the birth of cinema as part of my degree and it covered Soviet Montage… unfortunately that’s all I know about film from your neck of the woods.

• It sounds like they did for you a screening of Battleship Potemkin (Sergei Eisenstein 1925) It elevated and Mastered the techniques used in film-editing today, mainly by assigning meaning to those edits and montages. We have a deep history of blending philosophical art-forms with raw psychological thinking and even today I see that in my write-ups for movies, I think it's in the DNA or it's my interest in psychology and philosophy. Unfortunately that also blends with the psychology of propaganda (which I'm being exposed to now and fail to see through it anymore, it's been years and something cracked) Even Sergei Eisenstein used Pavlovian Reflexology (in those montages) to develop a theory of montage attraction, it rejected art as self-expression and instead focused on the shock and aggression of the imagery, he made it his own art-form and was able to mathematically predict the level of emotional response. My viewing is no different, I'm shown things I can't mention and told one thing, my mind can't differentiate anymore so I just nod and agree, then go back to my music and games. That's the reality of propaganda it does work.

Eisenstein believed that his job (as did other Soviet filmmakers) was to use psychology and shock to break the viewers resistance, that natural barrier, he wanted to remove it. His shots used that juxtaposition to tell the story, aggressively cutting between violence of people being slaughter (in combat) to animals going through the same thing (I was shown the exact same thing in a music video, identical with squealing boar sounds at the end) For him it was about breaking passive resistance. I'm already passive by nature but his technique also bypassed intellectual defense by creating confusion and I've experienced that too. For Eisenstein it was weaponized hatred of the Tsarists, for what I'm shown it's different, and obvious) The shift in the thirties was then to the avant-garde and socialist realism, Stalin wanted to instead use intellectual, and emotional thinking to create a kind of school or system of education. It was more to create the image of the model citizen, the perfect Soviet etiquette and behavior, which technically I was raised under (and that's complicated because I was also raised as an Imperialist, but I do have my own mind too hence I can talk to you about these things) people like Eisenstein then had their work censored/destroyed and everything was replaced with State run uniformity.

I adore Soviet cinema, respect my Nations history and respect all global art-forms/Peoples/Nations. But those techniques are still being used today, those principles of psychological conditioning meant I spent most of the Summer at sea away from everyone because it essentially reset my mind and my Partner needed to fix all of the damage, which took months. The mechanism has evolved, the algorithm has become more efficient and it penetrates the subconsciousness in a way I don't have words for. This is why I love the movie thread but I've never once discussed Soviet cinema, I'm too close to the source and it played musical chairs with my mind for years, and probably still does. My views did change, and I don't know if it was personal choice or something else. That's a scary thing to admit but like I said to you the first time we talked I do believe honesty is the best policy, even if the words are hard to find.

I hope your back is feeling better. I'm not sure if the wording is right by 'to put it out', I did hurt my back not too long ago. I kicked my Krava Maga Tutor between the legs. We'd moved onto Systema and when 'take me down', was issued I kicked him hard there. He put me on my back so fast and so hard, lessons were on hold for weeks. I'm never to do that again, I don't think he expected it and I was as they say in the zone. I really like martial arts but prefer Krav Maga because it's about using your opponents force/weight and power against them, it does include fighting dirty though, hence my kick. The problem was that the flat part of my foot caught too much on impact and he reacted in kind. My back hurt for days and served as a reminder to never do that again. How did you hurt yours? I'm guessing you lifted something heavy.
