Dear lord. So I just had a company presentation over Microsoft Teams for a role that I applied to and the meeting was at 13:00 so I thought I'd join the meeting at 12:55. Lo and behold, Teams needed a mandatory update right then! I panicked, so I tried to update it, then the page told me to log in and I thought, well this is going to take a long time so I should just use the app through the browser. Then the browser app told me that I needed to log in, then I needed to add a phone number and enter a code that they'd send me. Then the page directed me to add a phone number again and when I did that an error showed up. So I thought, well alright I'll just download the update then since I have no other choice. I had to download the app again, install it and that went smoothly. But then I couldn't get the link to work, so I opened the app and realised that I needed to log in there. Then the link worked and finally I could connect to the meeting.
I still can't believe I did all of that in just 5 minutes just as the meeting was about to start. Sometimes I really hate technology.
@LtSarge I can seriously sympathise with you on Teams and interviews. I have tried to join a meeting for an interview a few minutes early, on my personal laptop. Well I had logged into my works Teams on there once, so when I tried to do it via the web app it kept trying to do it via my work account! Like you, I panicked and just tried all sorts very quickly. Thankfully I managed to somehow sign out of my work account and join as a guest!
I tried to recitfy this mistake by logging into my personal account on the desktop app, but I also had my work account to work from home. Had the exact same issues again! It wouldn't let me choose the personal account. So had to go via the web app and had to try and sign out again.
@NedStarksGhost Yeah I can definitely see a lot of people encountering problems like this. I've never had issues with these apps before though. During my studies, we would mostly use Zoom for meetings and it would always work. But for some reason, Microsoft has to constantly update their apps which leads to problems such as this. I'd honestly rather use Zoom instead since it doesn't seem to need updates as much as Teams.
@Thrillho Excited about the Ashes? What are your thoughts?

@LtSarge That happens to me what feels like every time I open Teams. I go through this frenzy of updating the app, getting the link to work, realising that I need to open Authenticator on my phone for the 2 factor code to get logged in and then find that somehow it's changed all my audio settings.
I've lost count of the number of meetings I've been late to for that reason. If I opened it 30 minutes before it would probably still find a way of screwing me over 😂

@TheBrandedSwordsman I might be in music but hardly in the music business - I mean, I’m either not in it or very bad at it!
Anyway, I’m terribly busy at work and it’s been a bit draining tbh. I have a couple things to do soon musically but I’m too exhausted by work to start them. That should be over soon though so I’ll be alright
Also, finishing mixes for that album I was recording a while back.
I bought the turkey for Christmas. Sounds insane given it’s October but mark my words, UK peeps here will find it hard to get a turkey in the coming weeks.
I went to work today only to find out there would be no power until 3 pm. Apparently this was announced in advance but literally nobody got the memo.
So I started my way back home to find that the subway station was "closed until further notice". I decided to walk to the next one, to find a "leave the station immediately, evacuation in progress" message on the info screens. After waiting a while for a replacement bus that never came, I went back to the station to find that it was actually functioning normally despite that message.
Just got home now.
In other news, I managed to get rid of a splinter I had in my index finger for the last couple days. Good times.
@TheBrandedSwordsman As great as the Ashes can be, the fact it's on Sky kills a lot of my enthusiasm and even more so when it's Down Under as it's pretty normal to wake up to not great news! I can't see us doing well at all; if we win a test I'll be surprised. That said, India won there recently and we had a good series against them so who knows!
@TheBrandedSwordsman I’ve got a logjam with work this week, and so I just have to get through the next 3-4 days.
I hate to say it but the pending holidays kinda stress me out. I enjoy Halloween and Christmas (and in the States we have Thanksgiving wedged between them so it’s a holiday onslaught from late October until New Years) but I hate all the prep work, travel to see family, shopping for gifts, etc. Every year I say that I need to start Christmas shopping earlier, and here it’s about 2 months away and I’m dreading it. 😅

@render Nah, I can do most of the work from home just as well. It's just that if I knew about the power outage yesterday (as I apparently should have), I'd have taken the laptop with me and just stayed at home this morning
@Jimmer-jammer No, we don’t really have an equivalent. I guess we at least have Burns Night here in January where we eat haggis and stuff but it’s not widely celebrated. Poor England don’t really have anything at all like that!
