@TheBrandedSwordsman busy dude… but somehow managed to get everything done in time to catch the Lions first tour match 😅.

Well, there certainly is a different ‘feel’ about England right now and I wouldn’t put it past them. They’re on the right side of the draw and they have a deep and talented squad. Hope you enjoy bud 👍.

PS. Someone has to like cricket I guess 😉

@Th3solution Oh I see, I hope you enjoy your long weekend, yes it has been good so far but as I was saying to @Jimmer-jammer I was playing some jazz music today and there just seems to be too many rules as to how to actually play it, more of a rock guy here from now on I think. Where do you stand on jazz?

@TheBrandedSwordsman Mostly just been taking it easy, been pretty unwell after my vaccine but starting to feel a bit better. Watching the football tonight, of course I’m now a fully subscribed Ukraine fan!

@TheBrandedSwordsman I’m not particularly into jazz, but I appreciate that many people love the genre. I think it’s a type of music that people who play instruments are notably fond of. For those of us who aren’t musicians, I don’t think we appreciate the talent involved with good jazz. It’s definitely been an influence on modern music though.

@nessisonett Haha yeah, I remember you saying you were a fan of whoever England happen to be playing against at the time. Take it you want India to win tonight's women's cricket match against us as well then? haha, also, just noticed you changed your avatar. Eraserhead, is it? Great movie.

ok so for someone who did not get into the hype train for the game i must say that cyberpunk is not a bad game tbh.

sure you can see the mishaps with the game while in free roam but even then it does not bother me.

i like the story so far, altough it should be a bit longer imo,and the side content is decent aswell.

gunplay is good enough for me but melee can be clunky.

visuals are alright on the ps5. it can look great when in the sun light or in the rain at night.

granted i never payed attention to the pre release footage and marketing and never played the game at launch since i got the game about a week ago,so i'm a bit biased but still. i like it and want a sequel.

JohnnyShoulder

@jdv95 Glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately it will forever be marked as hot garbage by some, which is a shame as there is a good game there. Did you experience many crashes, how stable did the game feel?

@jdv95 CP had two problems
One was not delivering on some of the promises but people would let it slide if it didn't have the other problem. I mean - it still reviewed extremely well on PC and a bad game wouldn't be able to do that.
The other one was that the PS4 and X1 versions were inexcusably bad at launch - pretty much only ran on PS5 and SX. Gamers got angry and they love to bash the thing they're angry at

Probably should've released as a cross-gen game - with native current-gen versions at launch and last-gen version being what they are now, not 7 months ago. They didn't wanna do it because it had already been delayed several times.

(I have not played it, btw)

@JohnnyShoulder been pretty smooth so far.

only had a freeze yesterday but it was fixed by going into the dashboard without quiting the game.

some frame drops while driving in the city but nothing to jarring tbh. but then again i do play a fair bit of gta online which is also 30 FPS so i'm kinda used to it

it's not a 10 out of 10 game for sure but i would give it a 7 for the content that is included without taking the performance problems into regard. it's fun if you are not aware what the game was supposed to be like.

@Jimmer-jammer I am now trying out electronic music as I am beginning to think rock n' roll is too aggressive for my natural disposition, obviously tried jazz, that didn't work out either, so now it's on to electronic stuff. Where do you stand on a philosophy concerning rock and aggression? Do you think angry people typically gravitate towards rock music? I've read it helps them let off steam. Yet, you don't strike me as a particularly aggressive or even angry person, do you find that that music vents it for you so you don't have to be?

@TheBrandedSwordsman Sorry for the very belated reply on the cricket front. I saw the one T20 match on the bbc (typical that it was the really low scoring one, even if it was a good game!) and have only followed the rest from reports of match feeds. England did well but Sri Lanka were pretty poor throughout.

@Th3solution On the engine front, have you read “Blood, Sweat, and Pixels” by Jason Schreier? It’s an interesting book on game development focusing on a number of different games, some big ones and some indie ones. I can’t remember which game it was he talked about (each chapter focuses on one) but for one, the decision from the higher ups was to change what engine they were using to make the game and it led to all sorts of chaos as even the pause screen no longer worked properly as they had to make that sort of stuff up as they went along. A very easy to read book and one I found quite interesting.

Th3solution

@Thrillho Haven’t read that (nor heard of it) but it does sound interesting. I know of Shreier and his reputation as a guru in games media. Thanks for the recommendation!

@Jimmer-jammer And have you been in bands? Like me? I used to love playing melodic rock in bands as a teenager, would love to get back into that - I know a few guys I could play with, but I can't always count on all of them to be there at the right time, I've often thought about going solo but often I can't motivate myself to write or record stuff and post it online, I've got a smattering of recordings, including some from a different teenage band (metal) online but I haven't updated it in ages. Sco, ultimately, is the most important musician to me these days, even if I am drifting back to rock now.

Playing A Plague Tale, thanks to PS+. My God, Hugo is annoying. Thank the heavens I didn't pay for this.

@Thrillho Are you following the England v Pakistan ODI series? What are your thoughts?

Thrillho

@TheBrandedSwordsman Again, I've only really been following it from match reports, checking the score, and seeing bits on twitter.

Pretty amazing results seeing as it's essentially a B-team after the outbreak of Covid in the main squad. Both wins seems to have been fairly comfortable and Mahmood in particular seems to have had a blinder! Salt's knock today was supposed to be pretty good too.

Thrillho

BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN

@Thrillho Yeah getting the first player out (Mahmood taking the first wicket in the first match) for a golden duck seemed pretty spectacular. Salt played very well, as you say, as well. They were considering nicknaming the team either Class of 2021 or Ben's Babes lol.
