@nessisonett Is that a Futurama or Simspsons reference? (Alien overlords) Lol

@KratosMD
It does sound like a fun idea, sounds a bit like a book club. I have Guacamelee 2 and have yet to start it so would be on board for that. TLOU2 seems like an obvious game to suggest for it as I can imagine most people will likely be playing that on its release.
@KratosMD I wish I could take credit for promoting a “Game Club” before, because it sounds like a great idea, but alas, I don’t think we’ve ever done it in an organized way. I’ve commented several times about how discussing games here really enhances my enjoyment of the game, so maybe that’s where it’s striking your memory. @Kidfried and I were in sync on a couple games just by happenstance and we talked about how much we enjoyed concurrently playing and discussing them (Bloodborne it was that started it and then Yakuza 0) so we agreed that we ought to pick a common game from our backlogs again so as to be able to discuss, so that could also be what you recall. It never got propagated though just because we both got going at different paces. But yes, I’d definitely be interested to see if we could do it as a forum with more people involved, that way if one person gets busy with life then at least there are others they might still be on track and could be concurrently playing and discussing their experiences with a given game. Sounds fun. I’m a really slow player, so I agree that something shorter would be good to start with. PS Plus games sitting in our backlog would be a reasonable consideration since a lot of users will be sitting in those with no real motivation to get them played. (Valiant Hearts, I’m looking at you). Anyways, brill idea!
(By the way @Kidfried — how are you, buddy? Haven’t seen you around much lately. Hope all it well.)

Not sure if posted before, but has anyone else seen The Cherno’s breakdown of the PS5 architecture talk? It’s absolutely fascinating. So many things passed over me in Cerny’s original talk and having Cherno provide context really made me appreciate the talk a lot more.
Did anyone see Charlie Brooker's series on how video games changed the world?

Digital Foundry have done a retrospective look back at the PS4 reveal. It was padded out way more than I remembered. It will be interesting to see how the PS5 stream compares.
@BearsEatBeets I mean, they always had a lot of talking before and after gameplay and trailer showings. I personally think that it made the announcements all the more exciting and makes the games more meaningful when they do it that way though. Without the padding I don't think it would have been quite as exciting. The tension build up, the hopes, the fact that it delivered on those hopes - it all made for such a memorable experience.
@Kidfried Yeah, great ideas. NieR Automata in particular is best experienced with the ability to share thoughts and ideas with others who’ve played the game. Death Stranding has been like that for me. I wished I had played along side more people because it has so much to discuss.
My thoughts on using PS Plus was because most people will have the game, but yes, I’d have no interest to play Kung Fu Panda or whatever random game people hadn’t played yet. Since this is @KratosMD ‘s brainchild, I’ll let him come up with whatever strategy for the club.

As for other things in life, I’m glad you’re okay. It has been a bit of a dumpster fire in the world the last 4 months and the site has reflected the world tension. It’s good that you’re playing some short games to escape. I really need to play Cuphead. It’s not the kind of game I’d usually like but the universal praise is hard to ignore.
But yeah, I’m doing fine. Busy with real world stuff, but I guess I can’t complain too much. Every day is something different and so I have good days and bad days, like we all do.

@KratosMD That sounds like a pretty neat idea. Games like Bioshock or stuff that's not too long but has a good rep (Like the Liar Princess & Blind Prince) would be neat ideas for it. My recent absence from posting here much might devalue this statement a bit, but I think that'd be a neat thing to participate in.
The main issue is that people are going to feel excluded and I don't want to make that mistake again since I received a lot of backlash when I created "Members' Appreciation Day" thread.
@KratosMD Ah, yes, that thing. My comment was what triggered that backlash in that other thread, but I don't have a problem with a Game Club thread being created. Actually, it's a great idea.
As long as anyone is welcome to join in, I don't think exclusion should be a problem. It depends on what games are being played there, but I'm bound to pop in occasionally.
@KratosMD I think the worst that can happen is that there is disagreement when choosing the game of the month. I don’t think that will inherently create discontent among users, but it might create apathy for some if they don’t like the choices. So the question will be how many people will be willing to play something out of order with what they were planning in order to discuss it together. I don’t know the answer to that question. Personally, if it’s on my backlog list and I own it, I’ll try to participate. If I don’t own it and it’s cheap, I’ll buy it. But if I don’t particularly want to play it (like Guacamelee 2, for example since I didn’t particularly enjoy the first one. I know, I’m weird) then I’ll skip that month but I won’t be at all offended about that but I won’t be engaging in the discussion of course. So getting critical mass involved will be the challenge.
Also, honestly it will be hard to get people to play, say, Bioshock, when The Last of Us 2 or Ghost of Tsushima drops that month. All attention will probably be turned to the new release. Perhaps a really small one like Goose Game could be piggy backed on a month like that but I don’t know. I’m speaking from a position of time limitation but some people play several big games per month. How many people will put their current run of a game on hold to play another? It probably depends on their mood and if it fits at that time.

@Th3solution Yeah I have no life atm due to Uni-less limbo but those with full time jobs probably wouldn’t be able to balance a few games at a time. I’d probably only participate if it was a game I owned, I don’t really have much spare cash every month.
@Th3solution Yeah, I’ve got a year’s worth because I’m addicted to MLB The Show! I also have Now for another 6 months so anything on those two services, I’ll give a go.
@nessisonett So you’ve got a lot of games to choose from right there. For me I have over 300 games in my library from buying things on sale or just claiming all the PS Plus games for several years, including the trash. Probably will only ever play the top 50.
You really love that MLB game. Were you a baseball fan before? See, I don’t care for baseball (American Football and NBA are the two I’ll watch) unless it’s the playoffs or World Series, which then I’ll pay attention. So as a casual fan (at best) of baseball, I wonder if I’d like The Show.
@Th3solution I’m from Glasgow, honestly barely seen any baseball in my life. It just translates so well to video game form, the players reflect their ratings but without impacting the skill based hitting and pitching. The sheer amount of content is great for your money and the main Ultimate Team-esque mode is one of the best for players who don’t want to spend money on MTX. This year’s game has had some issues with bugs and some broken mechanics but it’s the year before the jump to PS5 and with the extra uncertainty with coronavirus, I can’t really blame them for struggling to iron out the kinks. 19 was on PS Plus so I’d recommend playing a few matches and the single player to see if you like it, I loved that game’s mechanics and it’s worth a shot!
@nessisonett That’s a testament to excellent game design if the game is fun and engaging even without the connection to the real world sport and the multimillion dollar sport celebrities that fill the rosters.
