Hello friends. Seems like an extremely slow day around Pushsquare, for news and posts in general. Anyone want to talk about the Super Bowl?

I'm not a big fan of either team, really, but you've got to recognize their talent for getting here. As much as I hate the Chiefs, (they're in the same division as my Chargers) I think they're going to win. I used to like Tampa Bay, until they got Brady. God I hate Brady.

I think it's going to be a good, high-scoring game, with the Chiefs coming out on top.

I'd love to see some score predictions, here's mine: Chiefs 41 Buccaneers 34

I want the Chiefs to win just so that Brady loses. As a Brit without a stake in any team, I chose the Broncos a few years ago and so I haven’t exactly seen any success with them. I have family in Maine who support the Patriots but I couldn’t bring myself to go near Brady with a 10 foot barge pole. Please lose.

Happy to hear Brady fever spans the globe! It's got to be a pretty late start time across the pond. What time does it start over there? Does anyone stay up for it?

Like most people, I thought the Broncos had found their QB of the future in Drew Lock. After this last season, I'm not sure anymore. Got a score prediction?

I watched the Super Bowl on and off for several years without supporting anyone but last season I started watching most of the regular games through the season. Early on I enjoyed watching the Chiefs so kind of wanted them to do well. The way they kept coming back from behind in post season and the Super Bowl itself meant I became a fan going forward. So I'm certainly hoping for another Chiefs win tonight and I'm optimistic they will.
I've enjoyed seeing how the Buccaneers have progressed with Brady and was curious how he would do in another team after so long with the Patriots. I'm fairly indifferent about him as a person as I don't know much about him but interested in his career achievements. I saw something about 'inflate-gate' and assume some of his dislike comes from that.

@LordSteev The Super bowl show starts at 10pm for us in the UK and I'm planning on watching the whole thing so will be up until about 4am tomorrow. Luckily I always take holiday this time of year for my birthday so watching isn't an issue.

@LordSteev @BearsEatBeets Yeah, it’s on late night over here but I’ll probably be doing work on my laptop while watching it. My score prediction is 27-20 Chiefs.

Well Happy Birthday then! The Chiefs are the most exciting team to watch in all of Football, I have to admit, even if I don't like them. Mahomes is something special, for sure. They paid him half a billion dollars over 10 years in Kansas City, if you can believe it, so I think they know it.

Some of the Brady hate comes from inflate-gate, sure, but I think much more of it comes from watching him consistently beat your favorite team for the last two decades, too. He probably is the greatest quarterback ever, especially if you go by Super Bowl wins. Mahomes may end up being even better over time if he has the kind of longevity Brady has.

The thing that really irks me about Brady and inflate-gate is if you're already the G.O.A.T., why do you have to cheat? That, and Belichick and the Patriots were caught illegally filming other teams practices. If you are already the best, why do you feel you have to cheat to stay there?

Oh well. Happy Birthday again, man, and enjoy the game! Got a score prediction?

@LordSteev Cheers. Similar to @nessisonett I'll say about 31-20 to the Chiefs but it could be anything really. It was a very close game during the season so hopefully the home field advantage doesn't play a part and I will take a win by any amount.

Brady has tormented me for 21 years, so trust me, no one has a bigger hatred for him than me! I really think this is going to be one hell of a game. Was hoping for a blowout but I know better. With Brady, and that tb defense, I feel like the game will be on the line even with 2:00 in the 4th. I'm gonna go modest and predict 28-24 KC. Regardless of the outcome, I just want Brady to f-ing retire after this game and I don't want to hear his name again for the rest of my life. With that said, I've always liked the chiefs since andy reid came in as head coach. Plus mahomes is just fun to watch!

@NYJetsfan123 Yeah, Mahomes is definitely fun to watch. Might be due to having seen Brady for literally my entire life (he was drafted the same year I was born) but you know what you’re getting with Brady and it’s not really that fun to watch anymore.

@NYJetsfan123 Hey man, got a great laugh out of your post in the 'what are you playing this week?' thread.

I want to say the Chiefs will blow the Buccaneers out, but like you say, it's Brady. And he's at what qualifies as home, though I think the crowd is neutral, not to mention small.

As a Jets fan, hope you'll understand why I (a die-hard Chargers fan and former season ticket holder back when I lived in San Diego and Stan Humphries was qb) have to hate the Chiefs. Still, I like them better than Brady, so for a day only, I'm a fan.

Here's to a great game! I've had the pre-game hype shows on all morning, and still another 3 hours of that to go. Then the dreaded 6 months of the year where there is no football, lol

@nessisonett @LordSteev

I'll never forget in 2001, I was at a bar with some friends when bledsoe got injured and some guy named 'tom brady' came in to replace him. We all laughed and stumbled our asses home. I've been a very angry, depressed, sour, and vindictive person since that season hahaha

Unknown 6th round draft pick out of nowhere, (well, Michigan) I thought the Patriots were through. Shows how much I know.

Jim Rome: K.C. 31 Tampa 28
Russell Wilson: damn, I forgot what exact numbers he had, but it was Tampa by 4.

@LordSteev I do find it odd that the season is relatively short and has such a large gap. Almost any sport I think of only has a gap of a month or two between them. Is there a main reason they have such a large space? Surely they could create more fixtures and make the regular season longer.

I think it comes down to all the injuries. High speed, full contact sport. I think the bodies need a good long off-season just so the bumps and bruises can go away.

Want to see the Chiefs retain it just coz I think they play an entertaining offence based game and think Mahomes is amazing! Prediction 45 - 24

@LordSteev Yeah, he is from Michigan, which is a power football school, but if I’m not mistaken, he wasn’t even the starter for Michigan for most of his college career. I’m telling you, the guy has sold his soul or participates in some kind of dark magic to be this good for this long! 😅 The guy is almost a Senior Citizen! People his age can barely walk, much less be at the peak of professional sport. 😄

@BearsEatBeets Yeah, the short season is a point of some controversy. The owners want more games and the players Union keeps trying to keep the season short. Obviously their main objection is like Steev says the game is particularly hard on their bodies. For certain positions (like running back) their entire career is often not more than 5 years or so because they get beat up so badly week after week.
Honestly I think part of the reason the NFL is the indisputable king of American professional sports (when you take profits and popularity into account) is because there is a really limited number of game and a short season. It makes for each game carrying a lot more meaning and anticipation. The other major sports have so many games that it’s easy to just skip a few and not worry about them. I suspect the European and English Soccer league games are similarly popular because each game counts.

@Th3solution Yeah, it’s interesting because we think our football leagues have loads of games a season but then baseball and basketball absolutely blow our sports out the water in terms of numbers of games.
