Just thought I'd stop by and post some Triangle Strategy music to this thread. It has a great soundtrack, and considering the other two games I've been playing recently (TWEWY and Banjo-Kazooie) have been trying their damndest to make me hate that I'm able to hear sound, I appreciate being able to retreat to something that's actually aurally pleasing.

My favorite battle theme in the game overall. Very anime, but used sparingly enough that it's effective.

My favorite of the normal battle themes.

My favorite of the character-specific battle themes.

Literally the music that plays when you're setting up your team formation before a battle. I won't lie: sometimes I linger in the pre-battle menus longer than is strictly necessary.

A powerful track that certainly adds that extra little touch to certain story sequences.

Even the concentration camps in this world are able to enjoy good music!

Scary music for an even scarier dude.

I've been listening to Deltarune's soundtrack for Chapter 2 the past few days & I think regardless of your like or dislike of it (& by extension Undertale and the can of worms that is it's fandom)... I think it's hard to disagree about the music being well composed at the very least.

I can't quite describe what exactly it is about Noelle's theme that draws me to it so much... but I love it.

The first overworld song in the new dark world is such a jam. Not much else to say about it really.

and the boss theme against Berdly is probably my favourite song of chapter 2. I also love their slower paced main theme (But it has their name in the title so I haven't linked it (The sadder main version is pretty good too)).

Honestly very few songs I dislike at all in the soundtrack that are actual tracks.

The bonus boss' themes are great Though everything regarding Spamton was ran into the ground within a few hours of ch. 2's release (The "fandom" around this series is obnoxious to say the least 😝), I love the chapter 2 opening/title music of "Faint Glow" [spoiler]any of the tracks involving Queen are a delight and really suit her whimsy [spoiler], Ferris wheel has an incredibly simple melody (at least to start) but it's another one that I just find enjoyable.

Just wanted to share some of the tracks from the new Xenoblade Chronicles game.

The OST feels more atmospheric and intense than in previous games, which fits with its dark science-fiction setting.

I want to start off with this calming, beautiful track that plays when you're running around certain colonies in the daytime. Colonies are the equivalent of towns in XC3, so think of it as one of the main town themes.

The second piece I wanted to highlight is A Life Sent On. This is the fuller version of the piece that Off-Seers play in this game to send off dead soldiers they find on the battlefield. Fun fact: developer Monolith Soft actually created custom flutes from scratch in order to achieve the unique sound they wanted for this haunting piece.

This third track, The Weight of Life, plays during a few, very emotionally intense story moments, and also featured prominently in one of the pre-release trailers for the game.

For the last track, I wanted to highlight a piece of battle music. This theme plays when you fight the game's frightening first boss. Ominous latin chanting is, of course, not new to JRPG soundtracks, but this one is freaky enough that it managed to be memorable.

All of these are featured within the opening hours of the game, so I'm eager to see how the music evolves from here.

@colonelkilgore I believe they didn't have any hats.
I do enjoy a great soundtrack whilst I'm driving around (Mafia 3 and Sleeping Dogs were great, GTA 5 was a bit letdown in this area).
But is the Saints row 4 game any good?

@CaptD Lol you’re so right… and I was so wrong, they were without hats! 🤣

It’s not bad actually. I remember playing through the vast majority of it down my mates house the night of its release and feeling that it destroyed the series (it probably did in fairness) but it’s a decent open-world superhero game as opposed to an open-world crime game which everyone was expecting. I’ve made my guy look like Omni-man from Invincible and have had a fun evening role-playing as an anti-villain.

Just realized Monolith brought back the lady who sang the ending themes of the Playstation Xeno- games in XC3: Future Redeemed.

VERY cool for those of us who have been playing their games prior to the Xenoblade saga.

God, I love MGRR so much. Out of all the songs in the game, this is my favourite one purely because of how on point the lyrics are.

@RogerRoger I've actually started listening to the majority of the MGRR OST on Spotify while at work. It's honestly the perfect music for me to listen to when I want to focus and not get disturbed by the background noise. It's also the perfect music to listen to while working out, it always gets me so pumped up. Especially when I put on Rules of Nature. It's just too bad The Hot Wind Blowing isn't on Spotify, I really like that one as well.

My favorites are the Diablo 1 and 2 soundtracks.

Lately I'm enjoying the OST for various Command & Conquer releases. Now listening to C&C 3 Tiberium Wars.

My favorite video game soundtrack at the moment is from Conker’s Bad Fur Day. It’s a super old N64 game that I’m sure a couple of people may or may not know, but it’s absolutely one of my favorite games of all-time.

The game’s music is probably one of my favorite VGMs ever, and I tend to listen to it when I’m doing hobbies or working. I think what makes me like the OST so much is the different tones and moods for the songs and the variety of genres Robin Beanland (the composer) did for the game. Some tracks are more lighthearted and wouldn’t sound out of place in a cartoon, while some are more dramatic and complex for more serious settings. I think there was even a short (albeit stereotypical) track that was done in a type of Spanish song genre (I think it was flamenco?) and a dramatic boss fight where the enemy was opera singing a rather crude song during the battle and it had full voice acting. I think it’s all the more impressive since it was on the N64, and it’s just amazing that a single composer was able to cover so many different song genres and sounds, and, although some tracks are full of poo humor, I don’t actually mind it.

My most favorite track from the game is Rock Solid, which is a techno song that plays midway through the game. I listened to a 1 hour loop of this on repeat while I was cleaning a few weeks ago and it slaps; it is maybe the most impressive song I’ve ever heard for an N64 game and an example of EDM. If you haven’t played the game or know little about it, you’d probably be surprised to see which location this song plays in; all I’ll say is that the game is REALLY weird and goofy. I’m so bummed out that they officially released two songs from this game on Spotify a few years ago but did not make one of the two this track…

(Remake version)

There was a remake for the game that also redid the entire OST, including this song. I love the remake’s rendition a lot over the original since it sounds high quality and they added onto the song by adding in extra parts and beats. I really just think that one of the things Rare excelled in with their older games was having memorable soundtracks and banger songs for their games, and I’d say that, in my opinion, this was one of them!

EDIT: Let me add another one…

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V-kv_p1FTxg

This is also probably my second most favorite track from the game, and it’s called Enter the Vertex. I put a link to the remake’s version since I like it over the original, and I’d say it’s on the same level as Rock Solid. The song plays during a spoof of The Matrix nearing the end of the game. The song is so hardcore and the level it played in was awesome; the parody manages to be both cool and hilarious simultaneously, and it is one of my most favorite moments in the game!

@Malaise I agree that they did! I am more new to their games and didn’t start playing them until three years ago, but I think all their games from the 90s to 00s were so well-done in a lot of aspects. I liked the music (of course) as well as the characters and the settings in their games a whole lot, and it definitely seemed like they were always trying to add twists and innovate in game genres to interest and surprise players. There’s just this sort of charm old Rare seemed to have that really showed with their older games that seemed to go away over time unfortunately.
